Horrible news for us to wake up to this morning as travel host Anthony Bourdain has died at age 61 from an apparent suicide. Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown" aired on CNN and was produced by Zero Point Zero, who we all know is the same company that produced "The Hunt with John Walsh." Simply put, if not for his success on CNN with the show, "The Hunt" may have never existed and it could have been an even longer wait for a new fugitive show. I enjoyed Parts Unknown and vicariously living Bourdain's life as he traveled around the globe learning new cultures. If anyone from the ZPZ family is reading this, they have my sincerest and heartfelt condolences. Anthpny Bourdain and Kate Spade's suicides this week show depression isn't a one size fits-all disease, and if anyone feels like they can no longer make it, they need to call the National Suicide Hotline and have someone to talk to. Their number is 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255) www-m.cnn.com/2018/06/08/us/anthony-bourdain-obit/index.htmlsuicidepreventionlifeline.org/

Unfortunately with great sadness, and heartache, Anthony Bourdain, has died of an apparent suicide while filming for his show “Parts Unknown” in France. My condolences go out to him and his family during this very difficult time, for many who watched The Hunt during its entire run, we would see previews of his show which was also a CNN show by the same company Zero Productions (correct me if I’m wrong). www.10news.com/home/homepage-showcase/cnns-anthony-bourdain-dead-at-61

Just to add on, this is a very sad turn of events lately since earlier this week, Kate Spade died of an apparent suicide. Honestly these 2 deaths lately make me think that 2014 is coming back.
Suicide and depression isn’t any sort of joke nor is it bluff, it’s a silent killer and it’s something that I take personal for personal reasons. It says a lot when even the famous do this, and it’s that everyone is struggling deep down, nobody is safe from depression and you don’t know if someone has already been suffering for a long time.

Hi toptenhunter, we apparently posted at the same time (and with pretty much the same thoughts) so I moved your posts into the thread I already made for you.
And yes as I stated ZPZ is the same company that produced both Parts Unknown and The Hunt with John Walsh.
This is terrible news. The only solace I can take is that Bourdain in his 61 years had such adventures and probably lived five times the life of many who lived to be 100. I'm not sure how many people could say they crossed off as many items on their ucket list at age 61 as he did.

But yes Bourdain was living the life and eating a lot of great food from everywhere around the globe, he had a lot of fun and lived up to the age of 61 without any health problems (I assume). Honestly this takes me back to when Robin Williams passed, and I hope this summer isn’t the start of famous people ending their lives because honestly as a person whose been in their shoes at certain points in life understands the pain of watching these things unfold.

I should clarify though that from the outside observer they probably watched Bourdain and thought "man, that guy's life is awesome!" and he obviously didn't feel the same way and you never know just by watching someone on tv how happy their life really is.
I don't think a human being has ever not thought about suicide at one point in their lives, although some more seriously than others. You are at an age where thinking about suicide is common. I contemplated suicide in middle and high school as well. (Granted, the most serious time was after taking a certain prescription medication- so I don't know how much was teen angst/depression and how much was (legal) drugs altering my mood).
I hope we don't see too many more celebrity suicides but unfortunately they will happen again whether it's this summer or next summer, the key is reducing suicides in general, getting a better understanding of mental health in our country (mental health and guns don't need to be exclusive issues), and making sure those who need help get help.

Very sad to learn of Mr. Bourdain's passing and the reasons for it. As mentioned, despite his success he was not well in his life, possibly the stress and demands of all the global travel he had to do.
I agree that because of Parts Unknown's success, that allowed for The Hunt to start airing in 2014 as an original series concept for CNN, where as otherwise it could have taken a few more years for a fugitive hunting show to make the air again.

Just wanted to mention last week masked the sad 1-year-anniversary of Bourdain's death. Once again albeit in a roundabout way without him, there likely would be no Hunt or In Pursuit we really owe him a debit of gratitude.
