The case of 70-year old Loomes Wheeler Jr. is a strange, but sick one.
On April 15, 2013, Osceola County deputies took a report from a 9-year-old victim who indicated she was sexually battered by a relative, identified as Loomes Wheeler, Jr. The victim told deputies she remembers the first incident occurred when she was five years old when Wheeler forced her to perform a sex act. She told detectives about other encounters that occurred at his residence and place of work, Horse World Riding Stables. Those incidents included sexual battery and the suspect touching her inappropriately.
Wheeler was arrested the next day, and charged with 9 counts of Capital Sexual Battery, 4 counts of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct and 3 counts of Sexual Performance by a Child.
On April 25th, 2013, Wheeler was re-arrested after a second victim came forward with allegations. (He was previously released on bond) According to the 20-year old victim, Wheeler, a relative, inappropriately touched her when she was seven or eight years old. She told detectives the last specific incident she could remember occurred when she was 16-years old. Based on her statements, he was charged with three more counts of Lewd or Lascivious molestation.
Loomes, on house arrest with a GPS ankle bracelet, suddenly disappeared before he was due in court on September 3rd. But it WASN'T for molestation charges. He was set to face a homeowner who said Wheeler defrauded him out of three hundred thousand dollars. According to court documents, the plaintiff and his wife paid Wheeler $300,000 for the home, but Wheeler put the deed in his own name. Despite Wheeler's absence, a judge ruled in the plaintiff's favor, giving him and his wife exclusive possession of the property.
Lots of questions and controversy have surrounded the GPS company and device meant to monitor Wheeler. For one it went off at 1:49 am but authorities weren't notified until 9 am later that morning. Osceola deputies say the reason for the delay was because of an employee at the electronic monitoring company who thought it was a false alarm and didn't report it right away.
In any case, Wheeler needs to be found before he harms any more children.
Wheeler is described as a 70-year old white male, 6'0”, 170 lbs. with gray hair and green eyes. He was last seen in the area of Granada Boulevard in Kissimmee.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at (407) 348-2222 or Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS (8477). Calls made to Crimeline remain anonymous, and tips that lead to the felony arrest of suspects and/or the recovery of stolen property and drugs are eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000 dollars.
