Authorities in Texas are trying to identify the murderer of seven-year old Danydia Thompson. The case was aired on AMW, probably in 1997.
On the morning of Apr 30, 1997, Danydia and two of her cousins were walking from their residence in Killeen, Texas to their local elementary school. It's believed that Danydia left the school with someone after eating breakfast at the school. A witness saw her riding piggyback style on the shoulders of an unidentified black male who in 1997 was approximately 25-26 years old, 5'10, weighing 150 lbs, had a thick mustache and a 3-inch afro. On May 8, 1997, searchers found the remains of Danydia in a river alongside a rural highway south of Killeen.
In March 2013, authorities said they had a new lead in Danydia's case but didn't disclose details.
Thoughts? What's odd about this case is why Danydia was so comfortable being with this man that she would ride piggyback on him. Maybe it's something that young children enjoy but it just seems odd that she would do that. That makes me wonder if she somehow knew her abductor, although I imagine that her family's close relatives and friends would have been checked out by now. Therefore this was probably a stranger abduction.
