Actor and comedian Bill Cosby has been found guilty of drugging and assaulting Andrea Constand in his retrial. I've said before, while innocent until proven guilty (and now proven guilty), imo Cosby is/was guilty as sin in many of the cases of women accusing him as there is strength in numbers and there was no way so many women from all walks of life and seeming very credible made it all up. This one case imo would not have defined Cosby for what I feel he is because even if the prosecution couldn't prove their case, it was just one case. I honestly thought Cosby, being a celebrity, would walk away scott-free, so I am very pleasantly surprised to see the result of his retrial. It seems the #MeToo movement has turned a tide in America, and it is no longer as easy for men (and yes women in some cases as well), to get away with sexual assault. mobile.nytimes.com/2018/04/26/arts/television/bill-cosby-guilty-retrial.html

And we all now know Cosby has deemed a sexually violent predator and sentenced to 3-10 years in prison. if you asked me he deserved more and to spend the rest of his life in prison, but at his age this might be a death sentence anyway. The problem is there was only one case where he was prosecuted despite the evidence of a lot more women he allegedly drugged and assaulted.

Well I think he most likely die in prison before he released from prison, I think death would have been a perfect sentence because he in poor health right now.

And now Cosby has been released. I want to stress it seems Cosby was released and conviction overturned because of a technical issue and not because he was truly thought to be innocent. It's confusing but something about his accused in this case (Andrea Constance) had a civil case against him and they agreed to not prosecute the same case they wound up charging with anyway or something. I am admittedly probably not right here but hoping I'm in the ball park. If you watched the press conference, Cosby looked terrible and in my opinion is on death's door anyway. It's a shame when technical procedural issues are considered more important than justice for sexual assault victims, but that's where we are. www.cnn.com/us/live-news/bill-cosby-conviction-release-6-30-21/h_6069712da56ef7f39708a6255b414bb0

Then another DA came along and broke that promise. That isn't just a technical violation, it was a violation of Cosby's 5th Amendment rights against self-incrimination. Cosby is scum and I hate that he walked but the right thing was done here. Cosby is guilty but the next person whose 5th Amendment rights are ignored by a DA looking to make a name for him/herself could be innocent and even if they aren't, a message being sent that DA's can ignore civil liberties isn't a good one.

Unfortunately I agree. Just bothers me that people act like he got his conviction overturned because it was determined he wasn't guilty when really he was released on a technicality

After all these decades, why don't our criminal court systems have more safeguards against attorneys breaking defendants' constitutional rights or using a situation like that one as a career elevator?
