(Above: Brittanee, circa 2009. Photo Credit: Charley project) Missing Child/Person Profile as of September 3rd, 2014 (from missingkids.com): Missing Since: Apr 25, 2009 Missing From: Myrtle Beach, SC DOB: Oct 7, 1991 Sex: Female Race: White Hair Color: Brown Eye Color: Green Height: 5'0" Weight: 103 lbsTIPS: Anyone with any information in this case should contact the Myrtle Beach Police Department (South Carolina) 1-843-918-1000In 2009, Brittanee Drexel, whose case was aired twice on AMW, was a 17-year old teenager in Rochester, New York. In April of that year, she asked for her mother's permission to travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to spend spring break with her friends. Despite her mother's objections, Brittanee convinced her mom she was going to a friends house and went to Myrtle Beach anyway. Brittanee's friends last saw her at the Bar Harbor Hotel in Myrtle Beach at 8:00 PM. where she was staying. She told her friends she was going to visit her friend at another hotel and has not been seen since. According to the Charley Project, Peter Borowitz has remained a person of interest in Brittanee's disappearance. He was the last friend to see her, but maintains his innocence to this day. There were rumors of a breakthrough in Brittanee's case in April of 2010. Authorities announced they had three or four persons of interest, all from the Myrtle Beach area, but no arrests have been made. There is now a potential update in the case. Human skeletal remains have been found just six miles from where Britanee disappeared. Brittanee's mother has released a statement asking to let investigators do their job and make a positive identification and has encouraged all media to re visit the case. Of course, if you're the friends and family of Brittanee, you hope the remains are not her's. You want her to show up alive, and this is the worst case scenario. At the same time, if this is her, it is better to know than to not know. Thoughts? This reminds me of the Natalee Holloway case except for this being in the mainland United States. I understand why Peter was scrutinized. The last person to see the missing person always has to at least be interviewed and ruled out before anything else. But it is not impossible to surmise she befriended a new male friend or friends she met while on Spring Break who turned out to not be so trustworthy. In any case, we'll wait to see what happens with this latest development, and hope for the best for the Drexel family. web.archive.org/web/20111102232839/http://www.amw.com/missing_children/brief.cfm?id=65194encrypted.google.com/#q=brittanee+drexel+charley+projectwww.foxcarolina.com/story/24329879/brittanee-drexels-mother-makes-statement-following-discovery-of-skeletal-remainsAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

www.foxcarolina.com/story/24322587/skeletalIt's just been reported that the remains are believed to be of a 20-year old man. The sad thing about this, is that while Drexel's family can still hold out hope, another family will confirm their love one being deceased.

Ok thanks for the update. And yes of course I didn't mean it was ok if it turned out to be someone else. Just saying I'm sure for the family's sake they hoped it wasn't her but still wouldn't "rejoice" if it wasn't. Still a family has lost a child.
If nothing else, maybe this will put Brittanee's case back in the spotlight. And if someone harmed the 20-year old male (if it turns out to be a male and not Brittanee), I hope for justice for that family as well

This case is a mix of Natalee Hollaway and Holly Bobo IMO, but if what that FBI agent said is exactly what may have happened, then the SOB that did this may they burn for eternity because that seems disturbing.

Crime Watch Daily did an update on Brittanee's case today. The story is from a jailhouse informant named Taquan Brown that Brittanee was kidnapped, gang-raped, pistol-whipped and then fed to alligators by a group of men lead by Da'Shaun Taylor. Taylor claims no involvement and also says he doesn't even know who Brown is. It so happens that just a year after Brittanee vanished, Taylor's father Shaun was actually arrested for allegedly trying to abduct another young woman in the same location Brittanee vanished. But the charges were dismissed because he had an alibi, and his son also claims to have an alibi the day Brittanee disappeared. The FBI has charged Da'Shaun Taylor in an unrelated armed robbery, and his attorney says considering he's facing 10 years-to-life to those charges alone, he'd have an incentive to talk if he actually had anything to do with Brittanee's disappearance. Meanwhile the FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for the person or persons responsible for Brittanee's disappearance. Anyone with information can call their toll free hotline at 1-800-CALL-FBI crimewatchdaily.com/2016/11/30/new-info-in-south-carolina-disappearance-of-brittanee-drexel/

Timothy Da'Shaun Taylor was guilty on his robbery charges and is expected to be sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison. He was offered a lesser sentence if he could lead authorities to Drexel's remains but continues to deny having any involvement or knowledge. Taylor failed a polygraph back in July on questions relating to Drexel's disappearance. www.myrtlebeachonline.com/news/local/crime/article184812383.html

A reminder that just because someone is a scumbag in one area, doesn't mean they are in another. Also goes to show once again why you can't trust polographs or jailhouse informants in many cases, especially the former.

True and I always keep an open mind and never explicitly said I thought he was the culprit. As a matter of fact, I said it was weird he wouldn't talk if he knew anything if he wanted some sort of sentence reduction on his other cases. And I always say jurors need to decide based on the case and what's proven as well. Even if the defendant is a murderer, you have to determine if he did the particular murder he's being tried for.

Yup, you kept an open mind but a lot of "experts" elsewhere had this guy convicted already. To your second point, I concur. Justice system is supposed to pair up people with crimes they've committed, not just crimes people think they did.
