If you have any information on this case, call 1-866-THE-HUNT (in Mexico 0188000990546) or submit a web tip to them at the following link: www.cnn.com/interactive/2014/06/us/the-hunt/tip/Jacob Wetterling has been missing for nearly 25 years. His case was last aired on AMW in 2001. On Oct 22, 1989, 11-year old Jacob, his brother and a friend were riding their bicycles in St. Joseph, Minnesota from a convenience store to Jacob's home. They had almost arrived when an unidentified white male, wearing a mask and armed with either a handgun or shotgun approached them. He ordered the three boys to lie face down in a ditch, then asked the other two boys how old they were. He ordered them to run away and not look back or they would be shot, the abductor then took Jacob and disappeared. The man was described as being 40-50 years old, 5'8 with a husky build. An FBI profiler said the man was 25-35 years old and probably had poor self-esteem. The abductor and Jacob have never been seen again. Ten months before Jacob's abduction (Charley Project is wrong on the date), a 12-year old boy 10 miles away in Cold Springs, Minnesota was abducted while walking home after finishing ice skating. The boy was pulled into a car and was molested, then he was pushed out. The man's description was nearly identical to Jacob's abductor. In 2004, authorities identified the owner of a car seen near where Jacob was abducted and cleared the owner of any involvement. Authorities now believe that the abductor was on foot. It's also believed that Jacob was stalked before he was abducted. Recently, there has been suspicion of Jacob's neighbour, Dan Rassier. Jacob was abducted at the end of Rassier's driveway. In 2010, authorities searched his family farm but found nothing to link Rassier to Jacob's abduction. They did find a box of newspaper clippings about Jacob's abduction and a journal about Rassier's thoughts regarding the case. Thoughts? Regarding the Rassier theory, I have a few comments about it. It may not have been that unusual for Rassier to keep the newspaper clippings and a journal due to how much media attention this case got. Some commentators have their own issues with Rassier but I wonder if they just want to make someone look like a suspect for the sake of keeping this infamous case "interesting to viewers". My biggest issue is the Cold Springs abduction and molestation. That angle seems to have dropped out of the spotlight recently, despite the descriptions of the perpetrators in the two cases being nearly identicial. If Rassier is Jacob's abductor then why would he need to molest a boy 10 miles from his home before abducting Jacob at the edge of his driveway? However, if Rassier isn't the abductor and a serial child predator was involved then why would he need to abduct a boy at his driveway in such a unusual fashion, especially if he was apparently on foot? It's quite possible that Jacob's abductor lived somewhere in the area but changed his appearance after the major media coverage started, or left the area in my opinion. www.charleyproject.org/cases/w/wetterling_jacob.htmlwww.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2183014/Jacob-Wetterling-abduction-Person-Dan-Rassier-says-police-violate-rights.htmltranscripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1102/28/ng.01.htmlwww.startribune.com/local/11579041.html (About the Cold Springs crime) archive.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=63324 (About the Cold Springs crime) Admin Note: If you have any updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I don't believe Rassier had anything to do with Jacob's disappearance. For one thing, he has gone out of his way to clear his name. While a guilty person might deny they did anything, it would be unusual to go that far. Its unfortunate he's had to go through so much scrutiny and pretty much had his reputation destroyed just because Jacob disappeared near where he lives.
The abductor is imo the angle that needs to be put in the spotlight.
I think you're pretty much spot on in your thoughts here on this case.

www.joybaker.com/tag/jacob-wetterling/According to this (the blog writer claimed to be in contact with researchers for The Hunt), there were several child sex crime incidents in the area where Jacob disappeared in 1986 and 1987. If this is true then it's even less likely that Dan Rassier is responsible for Jacob's abduction IMO.

Joy Baker's blog was how I first found out the Wetterling case would be on The Hunt. She is very knowledgeable about this.

I was going through our missing cases today and noticed some similarities between Michael Hughes and the Jacob Wetterling case. For one, Michael Hughes was said to have been abducted by Franklin Delano Floyd (it says abductor but we know that's who it is) at gunpoint in 1994 according to the missingkids.com site. www.missingkids.com/poster/NCMC/795152/1Although Floyd already knew Hughes and nothing I've read says he was a child molester/abuser, one can't ignore the method he used to abduct him. If you take a look at the sketch even though it would have to be age-enhanced, I can already see some similarities in facial features Jacob's abductor was described as 5'8 between 40 and 50 years old. Floyd is 5'8 and would have been 46 years old at the time of Jacob's disappearance, according to his inmate search details. www.dc.state.fl.us/activeinmates/detail.asp?Bookmark=1&From=list&SessionID=922984105In addition, the murder Floyd is on death row for occurred in Pinellas County, Florida on March 13th, 1989. While this would make it hard to match-up with the similar assaults on young boys in Paynesville, Minnesota earlier in the year as he would have still been in Florida, Floyd likely would want to leave the state quickly after being wanted for murder. He certainly could have made it to Minnesota by October 22nd. And Oklahoma is not that far away. I thought perhaps I was just reaching here, but I did some more digging and apparently I am not the first person to make the comparison between Floyd and Jacob Wetterling's abductor. I found another site below AFTER I had already thought there could be a connection. They actually compare the whole Floyd family but Franklin makes the most sense. I don't have any idea if any of what the site claims about organized crime in Oklahoma is true and don't want to endorse the other theories on the link below, but I had at least thought of the similarities in the Wetterling and Hughes cases before I found it. I've been preoccupied with college resuming so please give me a break. I agree there are some key similarities. My only issue with Floyd is that I personally believe Jacob's abductor also committed the abduction in Cold Springs and the numerous sexual assaults in Paynesville starting a few years earlier. But anything's possible.

I meant NO ONE replied, but seeing you're the most frequent poster besides me, I basically accidentally called you out specifically so sorry and congrats and/or condolences on being back in school. LOL But yeah there are some similarities but it's the other attacks that's the problem with connecting the cases imo.
