On August 24, 2000, Gomez-Salazar was involved in a collision in which he seriously injured two of his
passengers. Gomez-Salazar was arrested and charged in Whatcom County with Vehicular Assault. It is
believed Gomez-Salazar fled to Mexico and may periodically return to Whatcom County for work.
