From the Jackson (Mississippi) Clarion Ledger:
The vehicle of a double homicide suspect was found on Interstate 59 in Jasper County Sunday, authorities said, but the suspect remains on the loose.
Casey James Lawhorn, 22, is being sought in the shooting deaths of his mother and a friend.
Lawhorn posted to Facebook late Sunday afternoon describing how he fatally shot Vi Lawhorn and Avery Gaines in East Ridge, Tennessee, around 5 a.m. Sunday. The post has since been deleted.
Lawhorn was seen at a convenience store in Heidelberg about 4 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle he was traveling in, a 2002 gold Ford Taurus, was found abandoned in the southbound shoulder of I-59 in Jasper County about five miles from the store where he was last seen, authorities said.
The suspect is being described as armed and "very dangerous."
The Jasper and Jones County sheriff's departments, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Department of Investigation are continuing their search for Lawhorn.
"Casey James Lawhorn's vehicle has been found on I59 near the Vossburg exit in Jasper County. Lawhorn is wanted in Tennessee for a double homicide. Lawhorn was not in the vehicle but is still presumed to be in Jasper County. Jasper County Sheriff's Department, MHP, MBI. Jones County Sheriff's Department are all on scene. Lawhorn is armed and considered very dangerous. Please DO NOT approach but contact the Jasper County Sheriff's Department 601-764-2588," posted the Jones County Sheriff's Department on Facebook.
his Sunday Facebook post, Lawhorn wrote: "Since so many people keep trying to reach out to me on Facebook, I figure I can just say my piece once here and be done with it. Before I start, I need to emphasize that I take full responsibility for my actions. Nothing anyone has or hasn't done to me caused this, my decisions and my failures are my own. Technical Details: This morning, at around 01:30, I shot and killed my mother (Vi Lawhorn) and a close friend of mine (Avery Gaines) with a stolen .22 LR."
He went on to give graphic details about both of their deaths, saying he shot Gaines as he lay sleeping on the floor. He said it appeared Gaines died instantly.
He then went into his mother's room and tried to shoot her, he said, but his gun jammed. She was intoxicated and didn't appear to recognize it had happened, he said. He left the room to clear the jam and then went back in.
Vi Lawhorn was trying to comfort her dog Oscar, Casey Lawhorn wrote, and he shot her several times until she died.
Both victims were shot in the head.
Authorities say Lawson called 911 to say he shot two people at a home on John Ross Road. He then fled the scene. He said he was going to Mowbray Mountain, north of Chattanooga, but was later spotted southbound on I-59.
Lawhorn goes on to tell his Facebook friends to save their "thoughts and prayers."
"Don't give me or my family your thoughts and prayers. No one will be hurt by this more than my brother (Chad Lawhorn). He will probably need a lot of help getting through this, and if you think you are helping him just by talking to the sky, you're f---ing wrong. If you want to help him in this insanely difficult time I'm putting him through, actually do something, don't just think about it. I'm sorry to him more than anyone," Lawhorn wrote. "That said, I don't want or need forgiveness from anyone. What I did is unforgivable. And prayer is a waste of time, nothing happens after death, but if there is a hell, I'm going to be in the lake of ice at the bottom."
Lawhorn was spotted earlier in Dade County, Georgia, driving a gold 2002 Ford Taurus with Tennessee tag W0327L.
He identified a different position at the end of the post.
"However, as I sit here in Mississippi, writing this on the side of I-59 south after my car broke down, what I look forward to is the nothingness after death. I've spent a lot of time thinking about murder, wondering what it feels like," he said. "But I've barely felt anything."

Thoughts? It should be noted that although it is advised to call the Jasper County Sheriff's Office if you spot Lawhorn in that area, most other articles state that if you see him in general to just immediately call 911.
Lawhorn's post made him sound suicidal, but assumptions cannot be made until a body is found, and Lawhorn should be considered alive, armed, and dangerous, until he is arrested or found deceased.
