(Above photo credit: trutv.com) Authorities in Texas have spent over 15 years trying to identify the killer of Amber Hagerman. Her abduction and murder led to the creation of the AMBER Alert. I don't know if AMW aired this case in 1996-1997 but I'll be shocked if I find out that they didn't. On Jan 12, 1996, nine-year old Amber and her five-year old brother Ricky went for a bike ride in Arlington, Texas. Her brother returned and said she had disappeared. A witness said that an unidentified man had carried a young girl into a pickup truck. The man was white or hispanic and the truck was dark-coloured. Four days later, a man walking his dog stopped the nude body of Amber in a storm drain, her throat was slit. Authorities said that Amber was kept alive for two days before she was murdered. In 2011, authorities arrested a couple in the small Texas town of Ellis on child pornography charges. Authorities wondered if the couple was involved in Amber's murder. Apparently a local newspaper led to the discovery of an alleged child pornography ring. The newspaper reporter who broke the story however was ordered to take the site down by a judge. The reporter was also charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year old boy. Another theory I found was that Dennis Bradford may have been responsible. Bradford was the unidentified abductor of eight-year old Jennifer Schuett whom he raped, slit her throat and left to die. That case was featured on AMW. The problem is that Bradford killed himself in prison in 2010. The cases are somewhat similar. Some have wondered if Dennis Bradford may have also been responsible for the abduction of Morgan Nick. Thoughts? I really doubt that the child pornography lead was credible and the reporter who created the story was just an idiot. Dennis Bradford is an interesting person to look into, although he's dead so if he is the killer, he can't serve time for it. If not then it's possible that her killer is involved in other cases and might have served time for a different crime. Admin Note #1: Based on crime location, our advice for anyone with information on this case would be to call Tarrant County (Texas) Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPSAdmin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-formwww.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/famous/amber_hagerman/1_index.htmlwww.wfaa.com/news/crime/Tip-leads-to-hope-in-solving-Amber-Hagermans-murder-117561839.htmlwww.dallasvoice.com/judge-orders-ellis-county-observer-publisher-joey-dauben-forfeit-domain-10107302.html

It's a shame that Amber's mother, who has done so much for kidnapped and missing children, can't have final justice herself.
I doubt the first one with the reporter.
Dennis Bradford is intriguing but wouldn't there be some DNA collected in this case? It is the same MO though.
Obviously, a very sick individual did this. And it is possible a serial killer or predator already in jail is responsible.

Crime Watch Daily did a segment on the 20-year anniversary of the Amber Alert and it coinciding with the still unsolved murder of Amber Hagerman. No new clues, but nice to see this case back in the spotlight. Too many times people read an Amber alert and forget about the story behind it. crimewatchdaily.com/videos/0-sjchxljx/

Sadly, I do not think this case will be solved anytime soon. It sounds like when Amber was thrown in the storm drain/creek, any DNA evidence was washed away. This tells me, though, that this killer may have known how to destroy evidence, and may be a serial offender.

I think while Bradford is a decent suspect, the recent arrest of someone we never heard of in Michaela Garecht's case is a reminder that you just never know.
Even in that Reddit thread there seems to be more discussion about what a sad case this is as opposed to any theories when usually in Reddit discussions there's a little more sleuthing involved.
It's unfortunately a baffling case.

I don't think it was Dennis Earl Bradford who did this cause I remember when he abducted that little girl, raped her, and then slit her throat but she lived and she even joined J.W. and AMW to go after him... didn't she say that Bradford was driving a car and not a black pick-up? !!!!!!! The black pick-up detail I remember cause when he abducted that other little girl (the one who's throat he'd slit and left for dead but she survived) she said that when he (Bradford) abducted her he told her that he was an undercover cop and she looked in the back of the car for some reason maybe looking for 'proof' like maybe a badge or a siren light 'bubble'?

While I can't remember the exact details of the AMW airing, I would tend to agree that I don't think it's Bradford either (only that he's a decent suspect) as the cases don't fit m.o. wise.

I’m wondering if the killer left behind an article of his clothing or some personal item: that would explain why they say it’s something only the killer would be aware of.

Very good observation. I think that's probably it.
