Authorities have been trying to solve the double homicide of Native Americans, Wilson Black Elk and Ronald Hard Heart for nearly 15 years, their bodies found on a Native American Reservation. AMW aired the case in either 1999 or 2000.
On Jun 8, 1999, the bodies of Wilson Black Elk and Ronald Hard Heart were found on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, right next to White Clay, Nebraska. They were last seen two days earlier. The FBI revealed that in 2009, the two men were killed by blows from a blunt object, when they had only previously said that they were killed by blunt force trauma. They were likely killed from a bat, bar or board. The FBI says that several suspects were identified early in the investigation, three or four Native American men who had violent backgrounds and lived in White Clay, Nebraska at the time of the murders. The men have not been cooperative with law enforcement. Around the time of the murders, there was a break-in at a White Clay store involving two suspects. The incident may have been related.
Tom Poor Bear, a relative of the two men, believes that they were killed in Nebraska and their bodies were moved. He has been extremely unimpressed with the investigation. In 1999, some activists believed that white law enforcement officials in Nebraska helped kill the two men, and their bodies were moved, because of the supposed lack of an investigation.
Thoughts? I personally doubt that authorities in Nebraska were involved. It's more likely that due to trust issues between the Native American community and authorities, that getting enough evidence for an arrest would be very difficult. Anything is possible though.
