...and it was among the most curious ideas for a law change I'd ever seen. I had the dream in either June or July of this past year (2013). In it, I read an article online about Mayor Bloomberg signing a bill into New York law that defined downloading of illicit pornography as deliberately saving such a file to their computer. The law had two intentions. One, to define the law more clearly and with a better understanding of internet technology and computer information management than most legislators are known for. Two, he was inspired to sign the bill after hearing of several men who'd been charged with downloading pornography because they were searching for something completely unrelated, happened upon illicit images/footage by accident just because they clicked the wrong link (which they'd honestly mistaken for a legit link), and went to court just because the cookies went to their browsing history (or something similar). Under this new law, people wouldn't be arrested on charges of illicit pr0n downloading based off a chance encounter; they'd only be arrested if they saved it to their computer (presumably the hard drive). Wasn't that the darndest dream? How would you feel if such a law ever came into your home state/province's congress?

Well, considering Bloomberg is only Mayor of NYC for one more month (along with a new police commissioner- well Bill Bratton is the new old police comissioner as well), time is running out for this to not be just a dream. Anyone, it's interesting, and call me naive, but I didn't realize people who looked up these sites in their search history were also targets and thought it was basically the people possessing or saving these files were the ones the feds went after. But if it's true cookies could land them in trouble, I don't know I'm torn. It's not right for someone to get in trouble for clicking on the wrong link, but at the same time if you made a law like that, it might allow perverts to basically feel they have free reign on the internet as long as they don't save anything. Even with saving and possessing files, I've heard claims of computer viruses, and even people being purposely sabotages, so not sure. It's not bad in theory, but not sure it would work on a wide scale.
