Two months after his death, family and friends helped raise nearly $10,000 in nine days to increase the reward amount for information that leads to an arrest and indictment into the shooting death of Kenneth Hall Jr. to $15,000.
The announcement came Tuesday afternoon from Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans President and CEO Darlene Cusanz
Kenneth Hall Jr. was discovered dead inside his truck on Father's Day (June 21, 2015) around 2:45 p.m. near the corner of Donner Drive and Marr Avenue in Algiers.
The 27-year-old had been shot multiple times.
The original reward amount stood at $2,500. Hall's mother, Deidra Smoot-Hall, along with family, friends and strangers held fundraisers and set up a GoFundMe account to raise donations in an effort to increase the amount being offered by Crimestoppers.
"So, I'm hoping and praying, I'm hoping and praying, that this (does not) go in vain, that they will find the person who killed my child," Deidra Smoot-Hall said.
"His name is Kenneth, but to me, he was Kendall, I called him Kendall. I miss him so much," she said.
Kenneth Hall Jr. was a rising music and concert promoter in New Orleans and on the day of his murder, it's believed he was selling tickets in the area when he was killed.
"He may have had a lot of enemies, but I think, his friends outweighed his enemies," Deidra Smoot-Hall said. "There is no acceptable explanation for ending my son's life."
Her youngest child of three, Kenneth Hall Jr., had an entrepreneurial spirit at a very young age. In addition to the event at Harrah's, he also had upcoming events at The House of Blues and Essence.
"He was such a hard worker and his career was really taking off," Deidra Smoot-Hall said. "I miss him more everyday."

Thoughts? I should note that the above article is from 2015. The expiration date for the $15,000 reward was this past September according to the New Orleans Crime Stoppers listing. Still, this case is still listed as unsolved on that site as of this posting date (3/17/2018), and if anyone has any information they should call in the tip not because of money, but because it would be the right thing to do.
