Kenneth Ray Cook has been wanted for nearly 30 years on escape charges. AMW aired his case in the 1990s and put him on the Winter 2003 Playing Card set.
On Dec 12, 1982, Kenneth Ray Cook informed a park ranger that his wife, Wilma Mae Guerin had drowned. It was determined that on Nov 4, 1982, a life insurance policy had been taken out on Cook and his wife which allowed Cook to collect $50,000 in the event of an accidental death. Kenneth's son testified at trial that Kenneth confessed to killing Wilma in order to collect on the life insurance policy and because he thought his wife was having affairs with other men. It was determined that Kenneth had thrown his wife over a four foot chain link fence, into the lake where she drowned and that he had tried to previously drown her on a previous fishing trip. Kenneth had claimed that they were at the lake for a fishing trip. Wilma was wearing a slacks suit and high heeled shoes at the time of her drowning.
The jury sentenced Cook to 40 years on a manslaughter conviction. He escaped from the Oklahoma State Reformatory in 1986.
Thoughts? Cook would be 83 by now so it's quite possible that he's died by now. If not then I can see him living as a retired citizen somewhere in the Great Plains region of the US. The archived AMW Playing Cards site mentioned he may have fled to Amarillo, Texas, which I can see him in.
