From ABC 6 Augusta-Aiken (wjbf.com):
Aiken, SC (WJBF)—Officers are asking for your help tracking down a murder suspect. The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating after 2 people were shot and killed on Bradby Lane in the Hahn Village housing complex.
David Turno with Aiken Public Safety pleads for your help to catch the person who pulled the trigger.
“We would encourage them to just call us directly or call Crimestoppers. They can remain anonymous and they could get a cash reward because right now we really don’t have a lot to go off of,” Turno says.
The number for Crimestoppers is 888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6372). They are offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 if the information you give leads to an arrest and the caller will remain anonymous.
Turno says they are working with the City of Aiken Housing Authority as they are the ones who manage the Hahn Village housing complex.
“They do have cameras out there so we’re hoping that it might have been captured on camera,” Turno describes.
People who live in the neighborhood were hesitant to talk to NewsChannel 6 about what happened. A woman told us off camera that she heard 5 gun shots in the middle of the night. She says she could tell they were close by. Later, when she looked out her window, she saw lots of police cars in the parking lot in front of her home. She also says she saw emergency crews carting off the bodies.
The coroner sent us the victim’s information. He says Logan Novak was 28-years-old and Harry Butler was 26-years-old when they were killed.
Officers got to the scene just after midnight, but they are not sure exactly what time the trigger was pulled. Both men were already dead when they got to the scene.
“It was just a passerby that walked by and saw them in the car, called us,” Turno points out. “It wasn’t an initial call of gunfire so if folks do remember what time they did hear the gunshots—call us, and that could help us narrow down some time.”
Turno says they are talking to family and friends trying to nail down a motive. “We’re watching the social media sites because we do see some talk on there so we’re just trying to determine ‘why.’ How do these guys know each other, what brought them there, what’s the circumstances.”
ADPS is not sure if this was targeted or a random act.
Aiken law enforcement has investigated 12 murders in the county as a whole this year. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says they have handled 8. The remaining 4 happened in the Aiken City limits and were handled by The Aiken Department of Public Safety. The incident in Hahn Village makes up 2 of those murders. The other 2 happened at different times in the Pace’s Run Apartment Complex.

Thoughts? The ABC station did another report and the case is still unsolved with a lot of mystery and unanswered questions as to possible motives. I'm still unsure if it's ever been said publicly how Novak and Butler knew each other: wjbf.com/2018/01/18/hahn-village-double-murder-still-unsolved-family-of-victims-hoping-for-answers-about-senseless-crime/
