According to newspapers.com, in 1991 Leonel Villarreal was living with his live-in girlfriend, Kelley Warren near Boynton Beach, Florida. Authorities say that Leonel and Kelley got into an argument, most likely over drugs and Leonel allegedly killed Kelley. Leonel then fled to Texas afterwards.
In 1993, authorities received a tip that Kelley's body was buried near the trailer she and Leonel lived in. Leonel's ex-wife told detectives that Leonel said he had killed Kelley days before he left Florida. When detectives were travelling to Texas to find Leonel, his ex-wife contacted him and alerted him about the investigation. By the time detectives got to Texas, Leonel crossed into Mexico where some of his family members there may have been police officers or federal agents. He is still wanted to this day.

Thoughts? I learned about this case while still going through the new cases the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department added to their website last month. Leonel would be 67-years of age today so he's most likely still alive. The problem is if those reports about his family are true (which has never been confirmed), it may hard to get Mexico to arrest and extradite Leonel.
