Photo Credits: Chicago Tribune's Fugitives From Justice Age: Approximately 46 (As of December 16, 2017) -- In 1991, immigrant Martin Esquivel settled in Joliet, Illinois and was given a laborer job by fellow immigrant Roger De La Rosa. For reasons unknown in September 1991, Martin broke into Roger's home and raided his refrigerator for milk and cookies. When Roger came home, Martin shot Roger to death. Martin was arrested for Roger's murder, but his family posted $50,000 in bond and Martin fled to Mexico. In 1992, Martin was tried in absentia and was convicted of Roger's murder. According to the Will County Court Records search, each year his warrant comes up for review around the same time but to date he is not in custody. Based on crime location, it is advised to contact the Will County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division at 815.727.8574 if you have any information on Martin Esquivel's whereabouts.

-- Thoughts? According to the Chicago Tribune, when Martin came to Roger looking for employment, Martin was broke and wearing flimsy tennis shoes, but Roger still allowed Martin to work for him. It is incredible that after that kind of generosity, Martin later killed Roger. www.chicagotribune.com/news/watchdog/ct-met-esquivel-fugitives-profiles-20111029-story.html

Also wanted to mention that according to a 2001 article provided by Newslibrary, Roger's son had repeatedly tried to get America's Most Wanted to profile Martin Esquivel. That never did happen unfortunately. Roger's son believed that Martin may occasionally have traveled to work in Texas and Florida since Martin's mother at the time lived in Brownsville, Texas.

So, when you break it down, Esquivel essentially murdered Roger for stealing his milk and cookies, which makes this perhaps the new stupidest murder on the forum.
I'm disappointed AMW never aired Esquivel, I understand AMW had to turn down thousands of cases a week, but he probably wasn't an uncatchable fugitive back in the 90's. Obviously today is much tougher.

As of July 6th, 2018, there's still a warrant for Martin Esquivel in Will County's online warrants search. Two interesting things I noticed. One it says offenses: drug delivery and nothing about murder but perhaps they're just listing his previous offenses prior to his warrant. Also his full name is Martin Teran Esquivel. www.willcountywarrants.com/index.php/data/name-search/details/2/2632

31 years later and no arrest whatsoever. And now the fact that our president Has an open border with hardly anybody being vetted Makes me wonder if Esquivel has gotten away.
It was a weird case, one day you’re in high school and the next day you’re going to a relatives house With dozens of police cars around it.
Two things here I cannot ever figure out is that they lowered this scumbag‘s bail to $50,000. They were drug dealers out there on $1 million bond and my father‘s death was deemed lower than that. I will never understand. Another incident was when my aunt went to check on my uncles life insurance through his employer, she found that his insurance had lapsed. To this day I find that kind of eerie.
The judge who had issued martins bail was later was fired for shady dealings.
I worked that summer of 1991 and let me tell you this, Martin Esquivel was not a liked man, he was lazy and like to run his mouth. The other workers were asking If they kick his ass. I don’t know if he had a complex or what was going on inside of him but he was not likable.
The family went to America’s most wanted and they were given a green light or something like that only to be told the story wouldn’t make it to the be picked up. Not sensational for them enough I guess?
Mr. Esquivel claimed that Roger was ing with the Mexicans. I highly doubt that, as he was pretty friendly with a lot of them.
Another thing is I don’t understand why the police aren’t holding Esquivel sister in contempt for not providing any information on where he’s at.
As a relative of Roger he was a very kind and giving man, and did not deserve this. I’m a very angry person because of this, and I know the family was very affected. His wife Linda was a very giving person also they would give you the shirt off her back. Sadly she died I think about 10 years ago.

Hi plarosa,
Welcome to the forum, although I am so sorry it is under these circumstances. For what it's worth, I have submitted your case to In Pursuit to at least consider profiling sometime in the future, but they unfortunately have to turn down even more cases than AMW did as they air less fugitives and shows. They will at least see your request.
Just note I had to delete the last sentence of your message because it contained references to speculating on possible whereabouts which could potentially tip a fugitive off if they read the forum.
Roger did not deserve to die and justice is long overdue.
