Tionda (Pictured top left) and her sister Diamond (Pictured top right) have been missing for 12 years. AMW aired their case five times from 2001 to 2003.
10-year old Tionda and three-year old Diamond were last seen by their mother when she left for work at 6:30 AM on Jul 6, 2001 at their Chicago home. At 11:00 AM that morning, their mother returned and discovered her daughters were not at home. Neighbourhood children claimed to have seen the girls playing outside of their home but their accounts were contradictory. Tionda had apparently left a note saying the two were going to a nearby store and school, Tionda was taking summer classes at the time.
After their disappearance, the mother, Tracey shoved a police officer who asked her to come to the precinct in 2002 to discuss new leads and had to be restrained in handcuffs. She had previously missed several scheduled appointments with detectives. Sources claimed that Tracey refused to submit writing samples to compare her writing to the note that she claimed Tionda left. Tracey took a polygraph test and is not considered to be a suspect. One theory was that Tionda and Bradley were taken by a Middle Eastern man who had paid one of them child support until the summer of 2001. FBI agents went to Morocco to investigate the lead but found no evidence that they were there.
This past March, the girl's great-aunt claimed to have received an e-mail from a Gary, Indiana woman claiming that her boyfriend showed up the day the girls had disappeared and told her "he did something messed up" and something like "she saw it, I had to kill her". The great-aunt also claimed that authorities said the man had stopped cooperating with police, Chicago authorities would not comment on the great-aunt's claims.
----------
Thoughts? One thing to note is that it's constantly debated as to how effective polygraph tests are and they aren't allowed as evidence in courts up here in Canada and can't be used without agreeing on it's admissibility in the United States. Although the mother isn't currently a suspect, it's easy to see why there should still be suspicion on her. The girls could have also have been abducted by a sex offender. I also do not know what to make of the claims of the girls's great-aunt.
