The last of the suspects named in a federal indictment of 11 Hells Angels has managed to evade federal custody so far, prompting the FBI and local law enforcement to seek the public’s help in finding him.
Russell Lyles, Jr., 36 of Windsor, was part of a group of 11 accused of running a racketeering operation that included murder, assault, maiming, robbery, extortion and witness intimidation, according to a federal indictment unsealed Monday.
Lyles, also known as “J.R.” is the last one of those named that remains outstanding, the FBI said, and was designated a fugitive from the law. The other 10 are in federal custody, with nine arrested from Saturday to Monday.
Officials said Lyles may be traveling in Lake, Mendocino or Sonoma counties and that he is possibly accompanied by his pregnant fiancee, Patricia Syfert, who is not a fugitive from the law. Lyles has another home in Healdsburg and businesses in Windsor as well as ties to the Lake Sonoma area, officials said.
Officials are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Lyles. Police said the public should not approach Lyles if they see him and should contact law enforcement immediately.
