According to Newslibrary archives, on April 17, 2007, two teenage girls were walking in Fort Wayne, Indiana to their bus stop. That's when authorities say Zaid Bernal allegedly went up to one of the girls and tried to abduct her. Zaid was on top of the girls and struggling with her when her classmate and two other schoolmates came to her aid. They fought against Zaid, kicking and hitting him until he ran off to an escape vehicle.
As a result of their heroic actions, the girls were honoured one month later at the Fort Wayne Police Department's annual awards ceremony. Zaid Bernal is still on the run, charged with attempted criminal confinement and sexual misconduct with a minor.

Thoughts? I know Fort Wayne Crimestoppers doesn't have the most up to date website, so I checked the Indiana Court records page and found out that Zaid Bernal's case hasn't been updated since 2007, so he's definitely still at large. Hopefully Zaid can be caught before he allegedly tries to abduct another teenage girl, if he hasn't already.
