MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police are searching for a 27-year-old man who is suspected of murdering a 12-day-old baby girl and critically injuring the child's mother. Police are asking for the public's help in finding Wayne Collier in connection with the Nov. 3 shooting of 27-year-old Heidy Bowen and the murder of her baby in the area of NW 49 Street and NW 19 Avenue.
Detective Robin Pinkard of the Miami-Dade Police Department told Patch on Friday that Bowen remains in critical condition. She described Collier as an acquaintance of Bowen's. Pinkard did not release a possible motive for shooting or describe the circumstances of the child's death.
But Local 10 news reported that Bowen was pregnant with the baby when she was shot in the early morning hours. Police are calling the child Baby Bowen.
"Through investigative means, Wayne Collier is wanted for his involvement in the incident," Pinkard said.
She did now know which areas Collier is known to frequent.
