This was a cold case fugitive I had never heard of before so I'm glad the FBI added him to their website. Even better is that the Miami field office added him and they usually only do white-collar fugitives on their website. While that's not a bad thing as white-collar fugitives are underrated, it's good that particular field office is branching out in other cases to profile. web.archive.org/web/20171109161520/https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/murders/juan-dios-garza

I think he could be a decent contender for the FBI Top Ten should more slots open up in the next few months as recent cold case fugitives added to the FBI site often land on the Top Ten.
I’ve never heard about this case either and there really isn’t much I can say other than, it’s a awful crime as the wounded victim had his brother taken from him. They believe he’s in Texas or Mexico, but due to the passage of time, he’s likely in Mexico as they’ve charged him with second degree murder too.
I’m curious if he’s been proven to actually be in Mexico and charged him with second degree murder?

I’m curious if he’s been proven to actually be in Mexico and charged him with second degree murder? That's actually a great question. I checked Newslibrary and newspapers.com and the only entry for this case was a brief 1991 wanted bulletin, but not with case details.

Wow, at least adding him to the FBI site gives him the publicity he needs to be caught.

I’m actually curious if Garza, when he was working in the United States at the time of the murder, if he had a family in Texas or in Mexico.
I’m curious if today he’s either single, involved in criminal activities or if he has a family with grown up kids and grandchildren.
Again there are a lot of things I’m really curious especially since Garza is believed to be in Matamoros, Mexico, which could be a little tricky since there is a lot of violence in that part of Mexico.

I found Juan Garza’s federal warrant from 1985, and it states that he was born not far from Mercedes, Texas. The place that would come to mind is Matamoros, Mexico, and also close to Mercedes, Texas is Reynosa, Mexico where there has been an increase in violence, sadly because both cities are in the state of Tamaulipas which has been going downhill quick, almost on the same level as Iraq and Syria considered “in a state of civil war” or “war zone”. So I’m curious if Juan Garza stayed in Tamaulipas, is he still alive?, or did he flee the violence sometime before 2006 or 2010? Or is he working for a cartel? www.scribd.com/document/364536228/Arrest-Warrant-for-Juan-Garza

While obviously Garza is still at large as of this update (7/5/2018) since he is still on the FBI website, Just for reference/just-in-case purposes wanted to provide an additional link to track Garza's fugitive status- Florida's public online warrants search website shows Garza as still having a warrant for homicide as of 7/5/2018. pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/restricted/PAS/person/WantedPersons.jsf
