On November 2, 2006, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies were doing a search warrant related to the homicide of a man killed at a nearby house. Suddenly someone from across the street shot at the Sheriff's Deputies. The gunman missed the deputies but instead shot 12-year old Janet Altamirano and a 15-year old girl. The 15-year old survived but deputies attempted CPR on Janet to keep her alive, tragically Janet would not survive her gunshot wounds.
Authorities say that the killer likely used an assault rifle and anywhere from 8 to 25 rounds were used in total. The killer may have escaped through a home's back yard and fled through the neighbourhood.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact Los Angeles Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 if you have any information on the murder of Janet Altamirano.

Thoughts? I went through my computer's list of favourited websites (for reference purposes) and came across the most recent news article on this murder which was done in December 2015. I didn't see any updates online so sadly this case is most likely still unsolved. If that's not the case, then please let us know through our website contact form.
I can also only assume that there are numerous unsolved shooting deaths of children (under the age of 18) across Los Angeles. There's probably too many unfortunately for the Los Angeles Police Department to have a website asking for tips on all of the cases.
