(Above photo credit: Justicefor Native Women website) From the Justice for Native Women website: Shawna was 13 years old when she disappeared from Anchorage, Alaska on April 22nd, 1991. She was reportedly last seen getting on a city bus to visit her friend. 6 weeks following her disappearance, her body was discovered partially covered by a stack of wooden pallets in an entryway behind the Monkey Warf bar. Her body was bruised and battered and her cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The area in which Shawna's body was found is known locally for having been frequented by sex traffickers and heavy crime at the time of her murder. Her case remains unsolved.
