(Above: Deshaun Swanson Photo Credit: theindychannel.com) From theindychannel.com: INDIANAPOLIS -- A mother never forgets. "It's been two years but it seems like yesterday," Shannon Swanson said. It's been two years since her 10-year-old son, Deshaun Swanson, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on Indianapolis' north side. Swanson doesn't know who killed her son. But whoever did it is still out there. That's why Deshaun's friends and family went to a rally in his honor Tuesday, where balloons were released for the child. Deshaun's old football team was practicing at the time. A lot of the kids used to play with him. "His first year when he came out, he was 8," said Donnell Hamilton, who used to coach Deshaun. "He was the littlest guy on the field, but he had the biggest heart." Sometimes seeing her son's old team makes Shannon sad, but she said it's still a delight to watch the team play. But more than anything, she's ready for justice. "It's not gonna bring little man back," Shannon said. "It's not gonna take the hurt away. It's not gonna help me sleep at night. But ya know, it will let me know that you're paying for the crime -- paying for the life you took." If you have any information about what happened the night of Sept. 19, 2015 in the 3900 block of Graceland Avenue, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/crime/grieving-mother-hoping-for-justice-on-anniversary-of-10-year-olds-homicideThoughts? For those responsible for Deshaun's murder, I hope his family's grief, especially his mother's haunt you for the rest of your lives. Word gets around in circle of friends, especially if the killer(s) are young. Hopefully someone with crucial information comes forward since Deshaun's family as well as his team really needs it.
