From statesman.com:
Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety are offering up to $6,000 for information on a Travis County slaying that’s remained unsolved since 1982.
Authorities in Travis County found 19-year-old Ruth Elizabeth Bettis dead in a pasture near Sprinkle Cutoff Road, east of Dessau Road, on Thanksgiving Day in 1982. According to the DPS, she had been sexually assaulted and shot.
Bettis worked part-time at Sugar’s gentleman’s club on Highland Mall Boulevard, and was last seen on the night of Nov. 24 leaving the club after her shift.
Witnesses told investigators they saw her get into her car with an unknown man.
Travis County sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers investigated the case at the time, but came up empty.
A $3,000 reward is typically offered for information related to cases under investigation by the Texas Rangers, but authorities hope the increased amount will prompt someone with knowledge of Bettis’ death to come forward.
The increased reward will only be offered until DPS announces next month’s featured case.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-8477, or the DPS Missing Persons Hotline at 1-800-346-3243.

Thoughts? Please note the $6,000 reward is temporary and may be $3,000 depending on when this is read. Still imo no amount of money should be the reason for someone to do the right thing and getting a family much needed justice.
