Authorities in South Carolina have spent the past eight years trying to identify the man responsible for a deadly crime spree. AMW aired the case in 2011 and 2012.
On November 22, 2005, Constance Davidson pulled up to a Burger King drive-thru in North Augusta, South Carolina. Suddenly, a man wielding a SKS or AK-47 type assault rifle attempted to carjack her. She drove away and he fired several shots in response, wounding her. Afterwards, he went to the parking lot of a Huddle House restaurant and opened fire on Bill Powell and Rev. Earl Carter, killing Powell and wounding Carter. Then he went to another restaurant and carjacked Ida Heath. Her vehicle which she had fully filled up with gas was later recovered at a hotel near the crime scenes, with only half the tank left.

Authorities speculated that the gunman may have been a transient. The sketch that was done of the suspect, may not have even have been that accurate. All that's known for sure is at the type of the crime spree, he was white, 20-25 years old, 5'4 to 5'8 and weighed 180 pounds. He may have carjacked Constance in order to commit another crime but may have spiraled out of control when the woman escaped.
The crime was probably planned since he was wearing a heavy jacket and ski mask. Considering this all took place right next to Interstate 20, the transient possibly is highly likely. The FBI profile of the gunman says that he either lives or works in the area, but I don't fully believe that. What I would also like to know is why he drove 300 miles in the vehicle he carjacked, only to return it close to the murder scene.
