 Photo Credits: Crime Stoppers of Houston DOB: 05/31/79 AKA: Tooter -- On September 2, 2001, Houston authorities say that Sostenes Salinas and two accomplices allegedly went up to Francisco Ibanez with an assault rifle. Francisco and his friends were ordered out of the car they were in and were told to lie on the ground. Once on the ground, Francisco was shot and killed with the assault rifle. The car was stolen but later found in San Jacinto County. Sostenes's two alleged accomplices were arrested but he went on the run. --Thoughts? I learned about Sostenes Salinas being a fugitive from looking through Houston Crime Stoppers's fugitive listing earlier this year. That website is very tedious to go through but I didn't see any updated news articles on an arrest or anything like that. I too could not find Salinas in Harris County's online criminal court records and/or Houston Crime Stoppers. I feel it's still safe to reasonably assume that he is still at large as of this update (6/30/2018) since I haven't found anything online suggesting otherwise.

Hello, I am one of the victims sisters. As of today 01/27/2021 he is still at large. It has been 20 years and going into the 21st year that our family member was taken away so viciously. Although I have forgiven the accused to what he has done because God will handle justice, our family would like to see justice done. I am updating this here in hopes that our family can receive some type of help in the effort to re-air my brothers case. I have reached out on various occasions to the DA's office in an effort to get an update as to if my brothers case has just been filed and forgotten. Has it become a cold case. Will there never be justice on earth for our loved one. My brother left behind a son who will never have a father to go to. His parents who were destroyed to hear this news back in 2001. His sisters who were left with only memories. Our brother was 24 years old at the time, full of life, and a life ahead of him. Anyone out there who can help in anyway even if it's to re-air this case, do a photo age progression of him. I have this same picture and another one that was given to us the months into my brothers death. Anyone can offer any good age progression sites where I can get a picture on how he would look now. I circulate his wanted photo with all the details as much as I can but as of today, have had very little luck. Someone knows where he is. Someone has seen him. ANYBODY help.

Along with posting fugitive cases on this message board, I also post fugitive case stories on different Facebook groups. I will post this case in the future so more people are aware of the manhunt for Sostenes Salinas. I also support and publicize cases on behalf of the non-profit organization, Project: Cold Case. They help families advocate for their loved one's case, publicize the case and help families deal and talk about the grief of losing a loved one to homicide. Just wanted to add that for whatever it's worth although we are only an unofficial fan page for John Walsh, although I can't promise anything and unfortunately they have to turn down hundreds of cases a week, I do have a connection at In Pursuit that I can send case suggestions to and I'll forward the manhunt for Salinas to the list of the sadly many names I've had to for consideration.
Also for what it's worth every weekend on Saturday or Sunday I post a case on the forum as fugitive/case of the week where for 7 days their face and a link to their fugitive profile will be on the front page of the forum. So this weekend I will make Salinas our fugitive of the week.
