Sampson, 24, was shot to death May 20, 2016 in the parking lot of the Cityside at Huntington Metro apartments, located at 6034 Richmond Highway. Sampson had been on the phone with a friend when he was shot, according to an account of the incident in The Washington Post. Sampson’s death was the only unsolved homicide in the Richmond Highway area in 2016. The only lead that the police have publicly shared involved a sketch of a potential witness, seen at right. Sampson worked as instructional assistant at Fort Hunt Elementary School at the time of his death, and had been working to become a full-time teacher. Crimesolvers is asking anyone saw or heard anything suspicious specifically between 1-3 a.m. on the night of Sampson’s murder to contact Detective Jeremy Hinson at 703-246-7857, or Crime Solvers electronically by visiting www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org.
