Age: 59 or 60/early 60's
Last known address: unknown

Randy Grimes has been wanted by South Carolina authorities for over 20 years. AMW aired him as the original 50/50 fugitive for South Carolina in 2000, however I'm curious as to whether he was aired earlier than that.

On December 29, 1991, Randy who was reportedly very intoxicated, went confront his estranged wife's boyfriend, Michael Norton. Michael was camping at a hunting club in Islandon, South Carolina. Randy found Michael's camper and banged on it with Michael, Randy's wife Nancy and Michael's daughter inside. Nancy came out and had an argument with Randy. Michael soon came out to intervene in the argument and Randy shot Michael to death. Nancy locked herself in the camper and Randy tried to break in but fled when police arrived.

Thoughts? According to the old website, Grimes had another ex-wife, a daughter and two step-sons. He also had family in Florida. I imagine he got assistance from his family and is probably living still somewhere in the Southeastern U.S.

UPDATE from site admin: As HeadMarshal stated in a post below, the last time Grimes was confirmed to still be at large was November of 2016. I feel that is relatively recent enough to reasonably assume Grimes is still at large as of this update (7/23/2018). However, if anyone ever has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other in the future, they are always more than welcome to let us know.

Harking back to the did you ever see a fugitive thread, for some reason this guy looks very familiar to me, but I can't put my finger on why.

Anyway, yeah, he doesn't strike me as someone who would leave the states. He's probably still down South but far enough away from the crime scene.

Here’s some clarification on the post. I am one of the step sons that’s mentioned in the article. Randy was only married one time and it was to Nancy and he only had one child, a daughter. He has two step sons. The child in the camper was Randy’s daughter and not Michaels. Randy was in the camper when police arrived but was able to escape. As of right now, he is still a fugitive as there have been no arrest made. Personally, I feel like he took his own life after the incident but I have no way of knowing that for certain. I attended his fathers funeral in 2002 and he wasn’t there ( there were several FBI agents present). Randy has several brothers and a sister all of which still live in Florida.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for joining the forum and clarifying some aspects. Although Grimes is technically a fugitive until the day he or a body is found, I would agree that him committing suicide makes a lot of sense. I hope for you and everyone involved to have some sort of resolution, I know there's never such a thing as "closure" but rather answers/no longer not knowing, but I hope that one day it is found out what happened to Randy and if he is somehow still alive justice can still be served (although if he's no longer alive obviously that would be much harder to find out).

If you ever have anything else to share/update, you are more than welcome to comment again.
