They figured out the original ticket holder but he gave it away and it exchanged so many hands they were unable to successfully track it. Gotcha. I skimmed the article and read over that. I think it is certainly possible it is Ruffo. We know now that Joe Luis Saenz attended Laker games while on the run.

There's a lot of guys with that heavy set glasses and mustache look but what's significant to me is Ruffo's own cousin says it's him.

Dodgers are playing a playoff game tonight ironically, but Ruffo probably won't be attending if it was him a few years now that he has been (possibly) spotted.
I don't think if it was him it was being brazen as who would think you'd get spotted at a baseball game? There's so many people and so easy to be a lost face in the crowd. If it was him, I don't think it was as a big risk as it seemed and was just incredibly coincidental and sheer astronomical odds actually happening that he was possibly spotted- thankfully for law enforcement- if it was him.
However there is something enraging about Ruffo possibly enjoying a baseball game after all the people including his own family whose life he left in shambles.

Yeah, I don’t think we will know for sure if it was him unless he is caught. It would be nothing short of evil if he was attending games after leaving several family members who posted his bond homeless.

Well one thing I would caution is I remember when the Marshals were trying to identify a guy in a wedding photo they thought was Jihad Ramadan- they finally identified the guy and it turns out it wasn't Jihad Ramadan. (Although he later turned himself in after In Pursuit).
So I think this could be a matter of the Marshals just doing their due diligence- they can't say it's him or rule him out so it would be great to identify him to know whether to move on to the next lead or not.

Like I said- Jihad Ramadan all over again- but at least they can move on to the next lead- and like Ramadan they get Ruffo after all.

Now that it has been determined the man isn't Ruffo, it is back to figuring where he may be.
I know it seems like everyone thinks fugitives who steal millions of dollars go off to some exotic land and sip pina coladas for the rest of their life but that often isn't the case.
It may be for some but then you have other fugitives like James Hammes who was caught hiking the Appalachian Trail (which is now in the news again thanks to the Brian Laundrie manhunt).
John Donald Cody aka "Bobby Thompson" lived by modest means when he was caught if I remember correctly.
For some of these fugitives it's more about the game than living the high life.
Ruffo was believed to be in Oklahoma in 2001. No disrespect to Oklahoma but if I ever win Powerball I'm moving to Bermuda, not Oklahoma. Which lends credence to Ruffo stealing because he can, not because he wants finer things in life.
So it actually wouldn't surprise me if Ruffo was living some quiet life in a Midwestern town.
What I do wonder about is like with Rober Fisher- unless he lost weight Ruffo's a short stocky guy likely to run into health issues later on in life. How does he see a doctor?

I suspect he was jumping back and forth across the Atlantic before 9/11, and that changed after 9/11. I think it is certainly possible he is in the States in a small town. Some publicity could help flush him out.

Every time I have ABC News streaming live on YouTube since at least August 2021, they always have the “Have You Seen This Man?” commercial playing constantly at every hour or half hour intervals and it’s like I’m surprised that with a commercial like that playing constantly each day, that it hasn’t led to “We Finally Caught This Man”

I think one thing is every time there's a financial fugitive, usually the response is "so what, they stole from a bank, they're thieves themselves" on social media posts. While I don't subscribe to Robin Hood theories and I don't condone any criminal activity, I understand *why* people feel that way. However, in this case, Ruffo caused his elderly mother to lose her home and his other family members and wife as well. This wasn't just a guy who got some off a bank, and it would help to stress that.
I've been quiet up til now but hence why I've never commented on the Ted Conrad case on this forum- also not condoning it and if caught he should have served jail time and it's really cool how they solved the case and there's movie-esque intrigue but he stole a relatively minuscule amount of money from a bank even by 1969 standards that probably financially recovered pretty quickly and stole it just by walking away with the money non-violently- Ted Conrad's crime might arguably be the most victimless crime in AMW-history. Yet it got so much publicity over child rapists, actual murderers etc... If there were any sh**ts less for how little I care or cared about the Ted Conrad case, I'd be constipated for eternity.
This isn't Ted Conrad. There were innocent working class people and others affected by Ruffo's crimes. He deserves to face punishment. That point needs to be hammered home to get people to want to call in that tip.
