Glen Stark Chambers escaped from the Polk County Correctional Facility in Florida 23 years ago in 1990, where he was serving a life sentence for murdering his 22-year old girlfriend. AMW first aired the case three times on Fox in 2009 and 2010 (forum members agreed despite the cold case status he had not been profiled on AMW before), and again on Lifetime in September of last year.
Chambers is not your average criminal. In 2010, the investigation led to the recovery of photos including a new mysterious tattoo and documents indicating that Chambers was an intellectual with a membership to Mensa, the high IQ association.
Amazingly, AMW generated a lot of great tips for Chambers, and according to Brannon Sheely, a Florida Law enforcement agent quoted in a new article about the case, each airing led them closer and closer. There were leads locally, on the west coast, Canada, and Marshals were actually in Minnesota looking for him.
The agent says it is possible Chambers learned Spanish while in prison so he could flee to a Latin Country after his escape. However, he states even if he did, he could always return with a new identity.
Thoughts? For some reason I don't have that feeling he fled the country. And I am intrigued by that Minnesota lead considering that according to his AMW.COM profile, he has family there.
