Photo Credits: NJ 101.5 Radio DOB: Sept 30, 1946 -- In 1971, Magnolia Sheffield was convicted of murder out of Passaic County, New Jersey. She only received a 10-year prison sentence. In March of 1975, Magnolia escaped from prison and has been on the run ever since. Based on investigating agencies, it is advised to contact the New Jersey Department of Corrections at (609) 292-4036 if you have any information on Magnolia Sheffield's whereabouts.Moderator Note: If you have any additional information or news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form --Thoughts? I looked through google search and the news archive sites I'm a member of and could not find any information on the murder Magnolia was convicted of in 1971. This is a common problem as far as getting case details out of New Jersey. There's also no information on possible whereabouts or if there have been any tips or leads in the past 42 years. She still needs to be caught to serve the remaining six years of her murder sentence. nj1015.com/wanted-can-you-help-capture-new-jerseys-prison-fugitives/#photogallery-1=33www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2015/06/on_the_lam_seven_nj_prison_escapees_still_being_hu.html

Newspapers.com finally got access to a July 30, 1971 sentencing article that goes into details about the original murder case.
Magnolia was convicted of stabbing her boyfriend, 45-year old Melvin Brown to death on March 23, 1971 after they had an argument.

As of today, June 12, 2021, Magnolia is still listed on the NJ DOC's website as a prison escapee. The link to that website has been updated since Scumhunter's 2018 post. www20.state.nj.us/DOC_Inmate/details?x=1069822&n=16If Magnolia is still alive, I feel that she should just turn herself in and see what the corrections system does with the remaining six years of her original sentence.
