Here's the article: www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Oakland-Man-Gets-21-Years-for-Fatally-Shooting-Ex-Girlfriend-in-2012-559953461.html?akmobile=oAbsolutely ridiculous he only got 21 years. I understand John Walsh's advice to families is take the plea deal in cases like this- your loved one's not coming back and it's not worth the stress of a trial- but my goodness usually it's like 30 instead of life or 25. Martinez is only going to be 54 years old when he still gets out so unlike other fugitives where they may no longer be a threat at a light sentence but older age- he absolutely can re-offend again. I thank you for the update so much and not angry at you but at the sentence.

I’m not a fan of a 21-year sentence for killing someone. However the article stated that Federico pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
I’ve seen sentences as little as four years on The First 48 for suspects that plead to lesser charges. Therefore 21 years is better by comparison.
However, I’m in agreement that when Federico gets out in his 50s, he will again be a threat to society again.

I was aware he pleaded guilty to a lesser/manslaughter charge and was upset despite that and that they even allowed him to do that. Apologies as I didn't explain well enough.
