Authorities are asking for help finding a man accused of killing a teen in a hit-and-run crash on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard last summer.
Crime Stoppers of Oregon says Abdulrahman Sameer Noorah, 21, removed an electronic monitoring device last weekend and has several felony warrants for his arrest. He previously pleaded not guilty to first-degree manslaughter and other charges in the death of Fallon Smart, a Franklin High School student who was killed in the Aug. 19 crash.
He was released from jail on bail the day after pleading not guilty in September, according to records. The consulate of Saudi Arabia, his home country, posted his $100,000 bail, records show.
A document filed on the day of his release states he would turn over his passport to federal officials.
Noorah was released from jail on the conditions that he be under house arrest and GPS monitoring, according to records. His GPS battery died shortly after midnight on Sunday, records show, and officials' attempts to find him have been unsuccessful.
Noorah's trial was set to start June 26, according to records.
"Investigators are concerned that Noorah may be experiencing a mental health crisis as a result of the arrest and pending trial," Crime Stoppers said in a news release.
He's about 6 feet tall and 150 lbs., and he was last known to be in the Southeast 106th Avenue and Division Street area, according to Crime Stoppers.
The nonprofit asks anyone who sees him to call 911. Anyone who has non-emergency information or tips about where Noorah is can contact Crime Stoppers, they said.
The nonprofit accepts anonymous tips. Tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers by texting "823HELP," followed by their tip, to CRIMES (274637.) They can also call 503-823-4357, submit a tip online or use the TipSubmit app for iPhone or Android.
