This is the NEW thread to discuss Lawrence William Fishman, a fugitive profiled on the FBI's website who was aired on America's Most Wanted in the 1990's. On the old thread I mentioned that Larry Fishman May be deceased, but this other forum made me change my opinion and I think he could be living in Israel under an assumed name. Fishman isn’t that old, as he’s 66 years old. The lack of attention over the years is perhaps one of the factors why Fishman has managed to stay at large for 37 years. I know there’s a possibility he’s deceased, but I’m rolling the dice and say make a push to renew public interest in the case. www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?332056-MD-Lawrence-Fishman-29-Silver-Spring-28-November-1980

Anyone ever ask themselves this; is it possible that Larry Fishman has been getting care for his severe mental illness in Israel under an assumed name?
The reason I bring this up is because Israel does have universal health care (and so does England) but because of the passage of time, the only alternative to him being dead is that he booked a flight to Israel and has been living there ever since.

The fact that Fishman is said to suffer from "severe" mental illness would suggest the possibility of suicide shortly afterwards. However I think it also depends on what kind of mental illness he had and if the psychiatrists that diagnosed him exaggerated. (There is a prescription drug culture in this country- and while personally I've had loved ones who definitely needed to be medicated, there's also this thing where they try to push pills for everything in the book nowadays. So yeah a seriously mentally ill person needs a lot of medication. However, just because you're cry at a movie doesn't mean you need Xanax.). One article listed one of his mental illnesses as a "persecution complex" which probably wouldn't suggest suicide: www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1993/11/04/back-on-the-trail-of-murder-suspect/2500db7e-78f7-4938-a4fe-85307827a4cd/?utm_term=.36cbdeed3d81Regardless, I'm not sure if Fishman seems like the type to seek treatment on his own. Once he became a fugitive, he was his own person that wouldn't have felt a need to be pressured to take medication seek help etc.. regardless of where he went.

Just wanted to add that to clear up what I was trying to summarize above: yes, I think he could still be alive. Just that I don't think he is seeking help for his supposed illnesses if he is.

That pretty much makes sense, and he could be possibly similar to Brad Bishop in the fact that he could have been roaming around like a vagabond somewhere in the mentioned locations if he isn’t getting help on his own.

This is a well known case that really doesn't need confirmation but just to be on the safe side wanted to provide the link to Maryland's online criminal records search, which shows charges against him as still open cases as of June 22nd, 2018: casesearch.courts.state.md.us/casesearch/inquirySearch.jis

Welcome back to the forum. It is really sad that what seemed like a promising childhood turned into this family tragedy, and similar parallels although different circumstances personality wise and location wise to Bishop case also happening in Maryland.

Being gifted may not necessarily equal being well-adjusted later in life. Peer pressure and bullying from classmates or failing to meet parental expectations or other factors that may have affected his mental state to react in extremes. It is sad.

I know that they have said that Fishman has a severe mental illness. Does anyone know exactly what it is? Schizophrenia? Bipolar Disorder? Schizoaffective Disorder?
