Authorities in Los Angeles say that on August 5, 2016, Lester Virgil was doing drills with his 12-year old son and his son's basketball teammates outside. As they were doing so, a white Audi sedan pulled up in front of them. Someone inside the Audi sprayed gunfire at Lester and the children. The children scattered but Lester was struck by a bullet and died from his injuries.
Authorities say there was a gang war in that neighbourhood at the time, but Lester and the children did not have any connections to gang activity. This may have been a case of mistaken identity that resulted in Lester's murder.
Based on investigating agencies, it is advised to contact Det. Dean Camarillo at the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau, 323-890-5500 if you have any information on Lester's murder. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

Thoughts? Tragically we have an innocent father killed teaching his son and his teammates a sporting lesson that was hopefully going to keep them away from gang activity. Sadly it appears that Lester couldn't keep them away from the violence of gangs entirely. At least we know the suspect vehicle in this case, however the killer(s) could have easily stolen it before the shooting and ditched it away from the murder scene.
