William Claybourne Taylor has been wanted by the FBI for over 30 years. Even though he was profiled on Unsolved Mysteries in 1990, I don't know if he was ever on AMW.
In 1977, former attorney Ray Taylor, his brother William and Paul Allen conspired to murder former Williston, Florida mayor Eugene Bailey. Ray would then represent Eugene's estate and collect $200,000 in legal fees. On Jan 8, 1977, a vehicle pulled up beside Bailey and a retired immigration official named Walter Scott, authorities say William shot into the vehicle, killing Scott. Other shots ended up wounding Bailey. Two other elderly men escaped unharmed.
In 1980, authorities indicted the three men and arrested all of them, Ray and William had fled to Tennessee at the time. William however posted a $20,000 bond and disappeared. Allen testified against Ray and got 15 years. In 1982, William was spotted in New Jersey by an undercover officer. In the mid-80s the FBI received a report that William had assumed the identity of a dead FBI agent. Initially authorities believed that he fled to Brazil with a forged passport, but no evidence suggesting that was uncovered.
Thoughts? I'm stumped as to where William Taylor could be hiding after all this time. His FBI poster lists so many occupations he had before going on the run that he could be doing almost anything under an assumed identity.
