Conn entered a guilty plea in March 2017 and was scheduled to testify at a jury trial against a co-conspirator during the week of June 5, 2017, in Lexington, Kentucky. Well, based on his crimes, Conn certainly lives up to his last name. Articles suggested initially Conn was thought to still be in the U.S. But of course things can change over time. Let's hope that wherever Conn is, he's apprehended soon. Admin Note: If you have any (news-related) updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Once again, I question the logic of putting Eric Conn under house arrest with just a GPS ankle monitor. As we've seen, those are extremely easy to remove. Did authorities not think that Eric would access to large amounts of cash that he could use immediately after going on the run?

My feeling and this is just my assumption is because he plead guilty to financial crimes and not murder or rape plus when a witness testifies *usually* its for a lesser sentence is why they assumed he wasn't a flight risk.
However, not only did he still plead guilty but he's a witness as well. My feeling is he went on the run willingly, but they obviously didn't monitor him well enough, since as a scheduled witness his life was potentially in danger. (I'm not going to buy that as his excuse if/when they catch him, but in theory he could have been in danger).

Eric Christopher Conn is unrelated to Eric John Conn, an early suspect in the Ben Bradley murder in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, whose charges were dropped in that case, right?

Unusual update but someone claiming to be Eric Conn sent an email to the Herald Leader newspaper in Kentucky detailing "his terms for surrender". He claimed he fled because it was supposedly unfair that two social security judges would get less prison time then what he was looking at. He also wants the FBI to not charge him with any crimes related to fleeing and say he is not a violent threat to the public. www.kentucky.com/news/state/article155553529.html

I read another article and his attorney seems to think it's really him. I have a few replies to his letter if it is really him:
1. Let's just assume for arguments sake that Conn has a point that his potential sentence was unfair. That could have been avoided if he never conducted any criminal activity in the first place. He already plead guilty and admitted to his crimes. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
2. Most con artists, not all but most are generally not a physical threat to the public. However, I've often said taking someone's life savings often has the same effect as stabbing them. Everything they worked for gone in financial stress for the foreseeable future. I don't know how much Conn's scams affected the "average" person but they involved social security which has enough trouble sustaining itself as it is. Every scam, even those against banks or institutions or people who have more money to withstand being stolen from eventually affects taxpayers one way or another.
3. Conn is crazy if he thinks he can negotiate a surrender with all those strings attached. Law enforcement will not put up with that and now they'll just be more inspired to capture him the old fashioned way.
With all that being said, while not excusing Conn's crimes and he is a sleazeball I will admit this is a really interesting case and I predict will probably make the CNBC show "American Greed" soon whether he's caught or not.
Also, if he is a real life Saul Goodman, perhaps they need to scour all the Cinnabons at the malls in Omaha. (Works for those who got it!)

And now the Lexington Hearld-Leader has received new emails from the man claiming to be Conn. He says he fled the country using a fake passport and help from someone who has given him a job to support himself while on the run. Conn also claims to be in a country where he cannot be extradited. The paper asked him a bunch of questions only Conn would know (such as what is your social security number), and he answered them all correctly. So this man is likely indeed Eric Conn. Whether or not he's telling the truth about being overseas and other aspects we've yet to find out though. www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article158181154.html

What are the chances of Eric Conn making the fbi Top ten? Although he’s not a violent crimes or murder fugitive, he committed a very sophisticated scheme and some very important figures were involved in this too.
Plus all this unfolded over the course of the summer, so he’s a recent case.
