(Above photo credit: syracuse.com via Syracuse (New York) Police Department) From syracuse.com: SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Police are seeking help tracking down a city man who is wanted for a hit-and-run that killed a 2-year-old girl in May. Syracuse police said Felix X. Santos, 18, of 545 Gifford St., is wanted on charges of second-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision, reckless driving and numerous other vehicle and traffic offenses. Jameisha Stanford, 2, was playing with chalk on a sidewalk in the 400 block of Shonnard Street shortly before 4 p.m. on May 27 when she was hit by a car. Her father James Stanford, 26, and her baby brother James Stanford were also hit, but survived. Jameisha Stanford died from her injuries. The driver kept going -- abandoning the car a few streets away, police said. Police did not say Wednesday how they had connected Santos to the hit-and-run or where he might be. Police asked anyone with information on Santos's whereabouts to contact them or any law enforcement agency immediately. Even at the age of 18, Felix Santos should have had far better judgment when behind the wheel in this situation. The victims were on a sidewalk after all and it was even during daylight hours! Was Felix backing up in a driveway and didn't bother to look behind the car beforehand or did he drive right onto the sidewalk? Either way, this is absolutely unacceptable and he needs to turn himself in to face responsibility.
