First off, despite what's being said about ratings, AMW experienced a lot of success on Lifetime. I was actually more surprised when it was cancelled by Lifetime than Fox because of how bad the show was getting on Fox and how good I felt it was getting on Lifetime. And despite many of us feeling it was money issues that was the real reason for cancellation, the media essentially attributed AMW's cancellation to low ratings.
While AMW did increase Lifetime's audience by 50% on Friday night, it never really reached a million or more viewers. And even the best shows can use improvement, (in athlete terms even a successful superstar is always striving to become an even better superstar) and perhaps there are ways it can be tweaked to make it even more popular if and when AMW finds a network.
So what do you think AMW can improve on if and when they come back? Obviously they will need to "revamp" and re-invent themselves a tiny bit even though in my opinion they improved greatly on Lifetime.
So if AMW pulls off the miracle, and comes back, here's what I'd like to see:
-Go back to a studio set: AMW can still have themed shows in cities even if they're not in the city. It's funny how Lifetime supposedly had budget issues yet John Walsh went everywhere in the country. Not nearly as expensive as the later Fox years when he was going to Japan to try to solve homicides with hardly any clues, but I'm sure costly enough. A studio should cut back costs, and feels more official anyway.
-No more than one unknown case an episode. If AMW wants to increase captures when they come back, they need to put more of a focus on fugitives. Unknown cases are harder to solve, and therefore we shouldn't get episodes with only three known fugitives but three unknown cases like we have in the past.
-At least five fugitives per episode. This of course increases the likelihood of a capture. They don't all have to be profiles and can be APB's, 15 seconds of shamers, etc but at least five should be aired.
-2-profiles only if deemed necessary. The biggest head-scratcher to me during AMW's Lifetime season was giving a 2-parter to drug trafficker Raul Ortega. There are child killers that only got APB's yet a drug trafficker not known to have killed anyone gets this. Sometimes a 2-parter with a plot twist such as Kenneth Grant's make sense. But otherwise, enough!
These are mine. What are some of yours?
