A Lake Charles man is wanted on charges of armed robbery and attempted first-degree murder for his part in the Dec. 29 beating of a man in a local motel, authorities said.
Officials said Robert M. Hendrix, 24, and four others pistol-whipped and stole cash and some personal items from a man in a North Lakeshore Drive motel, leaving him lying injured on the floor.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Brittany P. Edwards, 19, of Moss Bluff, was in the room with the victim before the incident and sent text messages to Hendrix and to Bryson A. Goins, 23, of Moss Bluff, and Troylen J. Stewart, 24, of Breaux Bridge.
Myers said Hendrix, Goins and Stewart were seen on surveillance video entering the motel room after Edwards left.
Edwards and Goins were arrested Jan. 13 and charged each with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery. Their bonds were set at $550,000 each.
Stewart was arrested April 13 in Lafayette and charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery. Bond was set at $1 million.
On Jan. 23, Judge Mike Canaday signed an arrest warrant for Hendrix for attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery. Bond was set at $1.25 million.
Edwards, Goins and Hendrix were indicted March 9, and Stewart was indicted for the same charges Thursday.
Myers said Edwards’ bond was reduced to $200,000 after her attempted murder charge was dismissed and posted bond May 19. Goins and Stewart remain in jail.
Anyone with information on Hendrix’s whereabouts can call the Sheriff’s Office at 491-3605 or Crime Stoppers at 439-2222.

Thoughts? Kudos to the good work by local authorities in apprehending the rest of the alleged perpetrators in this beating and robbery case. As we've seen in other cases, this could have very easily become a murder case based on the factors of the assault. Robert Hendrix should be considered extremely dangerous as he may resort to further robberies to support a life on the run.
