Stamford police issued Thursday evening a warning to the public and authorities outside the city about a wanted fugitive they believe to be armed and dangerous.
According to Lt. Diedrich Hohn, 20-year-old Michael O'Neil McFarlane, also known as "Murdah," was involved in a June 25, 2013, shooting incident that occurred on Richmond Hill Avenue.
Hohn said McFarlane attempted to rob a victim and, when the victim fought back, McFarlane pulled out a firearm and began shooting, striking the victim twice. A stray bullet from that volley also struck a car with a small child inside, he said. The victim survived the altercation and identified McFarlane as the shooter, Hohn said.
McFarlane has been charged with first-degree assault, criminal attempt at first-degree robbery and first-degree reckless endangerment. The court system has levied a $250,000 bond against him.
McFarlane has an additional warrant for his arrest in which he is charged with second-degree assault for allegedly pistol-whipping a female acquaintance at Hatch Park.
He is also being considered a Person of Interest in the attempted shooting of a Stamford police officer on Taylor Street on June 29, 2013, Hohn said.
The suspect is described as a black male standing approximately 5-feet, 11-inches, weighing 150 pounds with a dark complexion. He is considered armed and dangerous. He is known to have ties to the Stamford and Norwalk area, Hohn said.
