Ah, thanks for that HeadMarshal. I just recently discovered newspapers.com, it is a tremendous resource. Well darn. I was really hoping I had more of this October 4, 1997 episode, but it was just the first part. Let's get to it: Captured: John Huggins - Man who was turned in by his wife for the murder of Carla Larson Keller. Captured: Timothy White - Fugitive from last week apprehended quickly. Lorris Robinson - Gang member associated with David Askew (capture #310), is wanted for multiple crimes. John Walsh pleads for all courts to allow victims impact statements to be read. (partial segment and rest of episode not present). I can tell that the episode also contained Raymond Young (another airing of that segment) as well as the latest news on the Starbucks murders. According to web.archive.org, the episode also featured the Jonbenet Ramsey murder again. There was also the case of an unidentified child molester who molested a boy at a K-Mart earlier in 1997. I have no idea whether the offender was ever arrested. A few 1997 episode listings were saved but not many as web.archive.org was just starting out back then. I can't tell you how useful newspapers.con and newslibrary have been in making fugitive case threads. Sadly I have to pay money to use their services, but there's no stories on many of these fugitives online, just often a photo on a law enforcement page if that. They have a wide variety of available articles that are thankfully saved where you can't find it on google.

Yeah, I saw that. He definitely got off the hook easy.
ending of episode, unknown date, from Phoenix, AZ
Heather Thomas - girl who disappeared from Vancouver, Canada (I'm assuming the British Columbia province)
Kristy Lewis - Girl who disappeared from Chicago with her babysitter Anita Ragley and it is not known if Anita herself is a victim or if she abducted Kristy. (I can't immediately find anything about this case online).
October 14, 2000 (628 fugitives caught to date), from Charleston, South Carolina
Captured: Ernest & Kaia Jackson - Couple who nearly tortured their oldest son to death fled with their four other children and grandchild. Ernest & Kaia were apprehended and the four children saved, however their grandchild Ashani Creighton is still missing. And she's still missing to this day, 20 years later. www.charleyproject.org/cases/c/creighton_ashani.html
Update - Kevin Shifflett - Sad and infuriating case of young boy who was stabbed to death while playing with friends for absolutely no reason. DNA has linked Gregory Murphy to the crime, he was already behind bars for another crime.
Kenneth Raulerson & Jared Soper - Are wanted for stealing an ATM, Raulerson is also wanted for numerous bank robberies.
Tristan "Buddy" Myers - I'm familiar with this one. Young boy from North Carolina disappeared and it still missing to this day, 17 years later. www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/myers_tristen.html
Robert Wine - Is wanted for his part in an armed robbery of a convenience store in the Bronx.
National Zoo Robbery - Authorities searching for several suspects who robbed an office in the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. They subsequently mistreated a pregnant woman and a sick employee.
Daniel & Martha Crow - Repeat airing of couple wanted for running a pyramid scheme.
Klever & Lillian - Last name unknown, Brazilian born couple from Plano, Texas were murdered in their apartment, and Lillian was sexually assaulted. John Walsh runs down 5 mostly unique items stolen from the apartment that may lead to the killer(s). (Huh. I'm not immediately finding anything online about this case either.)
James Compton - Was serving time for assault, battery with intent to kill and robbery when he escaped from the Northside prison in South Carolina.
Michael Barerra & Enrique Coropuna - Again.

Ugh! Ernest Jackson was found NOT GUILTY by a second jury after the first failed to reach a verdict. The Hell? Just another travesty in the American judicial system. He did serve a 7 year stint in prison in the 2000's for the abuse of another child. Thankfully, it looks like Kaia is still in prison.

Gregory Murphy has continuously been declared mentally incompetent and therefore, has never faced trial in his murdering of Kevin Shifflett and has remained in mental institutions. Murphy has a very extensive history of criminal activity and drug usage and has served time for another unprovoked attack. Murphy, who is black, was discovered to have written about his intolerance for white people (specifically white children, of which Kevin was one) after having nearly burned down the hotel room he was staying in days before Kevin's murder. Murphy also physically attacked his lawyer.

They got 11 and 10 years respectively in prison.

Trung Pham and My Hang (male and female) were apprehended, still searching for the last suspect Tu Truong (male). Dang, wish I had more of this episode also, some explosive cases this week. Some updates as always. Eventually four people were arrested in the horrific attack on Linda Lebrane. All were convicted, and one of the attackers, John Wurdemann was released in 2015. However, some believe that the female attacker, Sarah Pearce was innocent. The Idaho Innocence Project invested her claims. The attackers themselves were John Walsh's Second Most Wanted fugitives of 2000, when he started a yearly countdown of his most wanted fugitives of that calendar year. Chi Ali Griffith was arrested in The Bronx by AMW tipsters, making him Capture #657 in 2001. Trung Pham was AMW Capture #624 in August of 2000. I can't remember off the top of my head what became of Tu Truong, although I'm pretty sure he's no longer wanted (anyone have additional information)?

There's all sorts of goings-on with the Linda Lebrane case. It was on Dateline a few years ago in an episode I wish I had. I have to do more research, but at first blush, Sarah Pearce does seem innocent. Lebrane identified the woman assailant as Hispanic, Pearce is white.

Trung Pham was AMW Capture #624 in August of 2000. I can't remember off the top of my head what became of Tu Truong, although I'm pretty sure he's no longer wanted (anyone have additional information)? Tu Minh Truong was indirectly caught in 2001.

Thanks pakman.
Man, this Linda Lebrane case is just blowing my mind right now. I was up way later than usual last night and decided to review some AMW while winding down and getting ready for bed. And then I saw that segment (which was really hard to watch) and it just jolted me.
Researching the case, it is just insane. I really feel bad for Linda and what she went through, however I am near-certain that she misidentified Sarah Pearce and that would be a miscarriage of justice.
Consider all of the following:
1) Linda described the female attacker as Hispanic. Sarah Pearce is white. 2) Linda initially picked two other women out of photo lineups (that were not Sarah Pearce). Both of those women were proven NOT to be involved. It was only after that, that Linda picked Sarah Pearce out of a lineup 3) At some point during the attack, Linda's glasses were removed, and she states she is nearly blind without them, and she couldn't remember when during the attack that happened. Thus, under these circumstances, and if it happened early enough, it would be difficult for Linda to appropriately describe the female attacker (especially when there were 3 other assailants and it was dark out). 4) Linda described the female attacker as being either the same height or shorter than her. In fact, Sarah Pearce is nearly a half a foot taller than Linda. 5) Linda smoked several marijuana cigarettes shortly before the attack and some believe this may have impaired her judgment. 6) Linda stated the female attacker was "very pretty". Beauty is subjective of course, and not to get too offensive, but Sarah Pearce would not fit very many people's definition of pretty. 7) While it's not impossible that the female attacker could have been white, it seems unlikely given that all of the other assailants are Hispanic. It should also be noted that while the 3 men have all implicated each other of involvement, none of them have said Sarah Pearce was involved and one flat-out said she was not involved (had she been, he could have used that as leverage to get a reduced sentence, especially since Linda described the female attacker as the "ringleader") 8) The forensic artist who drew the composite sketch of the female attacker strongly believed that Linda was too angry at the female attacker to accurately describe her.
I might have more on this later (and maybe we should move this to a separate thread).
Also, I did want to point out that the October 14, 2000 & November 4, 2000 episodes were consecutive -- AMW was not on the air October 21 or October 28 due to post-season baseball.

Feel free to make a separate thread on the Sarah Pearce conviction if you would like (I would recommend the Captures on TV subforum). I do agree that there is enough reasonable suspicion for Sarah to warrant a new trial. And this is not to downplay the horrible ordeal she went through at all, but eyewitness testimony is not perfect so mistakes do happen.

1998 episode with unknown date, joined in progress, from Monterey, CA
Eugene Linder - I believe this is a longer segment with more info than the one I mentioned previously, though it's joined in progress. Linder is wanted for murdering his significant other.
Christina Williams - Again, I believe this is a longer segment with more info that the one I mentioned previously. Girl from California who disappeared, Mariah Carey urges anybody with info to come forward.
Nathan Downs - Is wanted for shooting and killing a man outside a San Francisco nightclub.
Jamie Hawkins - Is wanted for beating a two year old child to death.
Lotto scam - 6 suspects whose identities are unknown are wanted for running a lotto scam.
John Walsh does a recap of the cases presented in this broadcast and I can tell, based on that, the first part of the show contained Romel White (again), plus these cases (which of course, are not present).
Christin Lamb - Wyoming girl disappeared. (Later discovered to have been raped and murdered by James Eric Peterson, who was sentenced to prison for life. He was the father of her friend and this happened right next to her grandparent's house).
Amy Bechtel - Another Wyoming disappearance and a pretty famous one, having been covered on Unsolved Mysteries and Disappeared. Woman who went jogging vanished and has not been heard from again. Her husband Steve is considered a suspect, as is Dale Wayne Eaton (who as it turned out, murdered another person featured on Unsolved Mysteries -- Lisa Kimmell).
*Special note: Wyoming is the least populated of the 50 states, but nonetheless, has been home to some of the most baffling disappearances over the years, such as Bechtel, Bradyn Fuksa, the Uden Family and David Lovely. www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/bechtel_amy.html

Nathan Downs became AMW Capture #547 on December 29, 1998! We actually didn't know what he was wanted for in our AMW capture directory so thanks for the information. Jamie Hawkins became AMW Capture #518 on August 4, 1998! Thankfully according to the Florida Department of Corrections, he was sentenced to life imrpisonment.

1998 episode (exact date unknown)
Captured: Tom Curtis - Seemingly personable high school student body president committed 19 armed robberies with Ethan Thrower in Portland (doesn't specify Portland, OR or Portland, ME, but I'm assuming Oregon). Showed up at senior class trip in Mexico and all of his classmates refused to turn him in. Thrower was put out of commission after accidentally shooting himself in the testicle (!!). Curtis was arrested in Las Vegas.
Captured: Jamie Hawkins - Turned himself in after quickie profile (possibly from previous week). He and his girlfriend severely beat and neglected her two year old daughter, eventually beating her to death. Girlfriend had previously been arrested and placed on one million dollar bond (the highest ever for that particular county). John Walsh says there's no punishment too severe for Hawkins (I agree).
Public Enemy #1: Eddie Mathis - Wanted for killing two adults and placing young child in closet for 14 hours while murders were carried out. Has violent history and is a gun fanatic. Once robbed bank and nearby White Castle while bank's alarm was going off. Once narrowly escaped capture. He is also a crossdresser and is on the U.S. Marshalls 15 Most Wanted list.
Juan Jimenez - Last remaining member of trio who robbed and killed Bob Rooney during a home invasion in Glastonbury, CT in 1991 is wanted.
Unknown National Monument thief - Searching for whoever is responsible for stealing part of a National Monument in Montana. This occurred on federal land, so it is a federal crime.
Julie Holmquist - Minnesota teenager has disappeared. (It was later discovered she was sexually assaulted and murdered. Curtiss Cedergren killed himself as the authorities were closing in on him.)
