On Friday, February 14, 2003, Patricio Pena shot and killed Jose Luis Barita-Lujan on Medford Avenue, in unincorporated Hayward. Patricio Pena fled the scene driving a dark colored 1985 Ford Bronco, which was recovered by police in Los Angeles area. Patricio Pena may still be in the area, attempting to obtain money to further his escape; probable destination is Mexico, his country of origin. Patricio Pena should be considered armed and dangerous.

Thoughts? I couldn't find out if detectives know as to why Jose Barita-Lujan was murdered. If that information is ever publicized, please let us know. As for whereabouts, it's very likely that Patricio made his way to Mexico initially, but it is somewhat possible he may have returned to the US for a time in the 14 years that he's been a fugitive.
