This may be rather impossible but does anyone want to venture a guess as to how many active Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrants there are currently?
Keep in mind, a UFAP is designed to let federal officials assist in apprehending local fugitives believe to have crossed state/federal lines to avoid arrest.
I'm going to put an estimate out there and say the number of active UFAP cases at the moment would be in the tens of thousands. This would be counting all felony warrants such as murder, attempted murder and sex crimes as a start.
If that estimate would turn out to be correct, then that should terrify everyone.

I’d say probably about 250,000 if you include cold cases and drug cartel leaders too.

it's hard to say, I would agree the number might possible even be in the hundred thousands for all we know, since not UFAPS are known to the public.

Is it me or this month (and part of late August) the best month for fugitive captures in history? I've never seen so many fugitives- and not just fugitives but HUGE cases caught in such a short period! It's technically not even the end of summer yet- it's going out with a bang!

I agree that it has been a great month, however I would love to expect another veteran FBI Top Tenner to be captured soon to make this epic month fulfilled.

LOL, I mean this respectfully but I think that would be a double cherry on a cake that was already cherried. How often do we even get 1 epic capture in a month? This has been crazy!

Not to be a killjoy on a great month of captures but am I the only one that feels sometimes more a sense of relief than celebration when a longtime fugitive finally gets caught? Don't get me wrong, I still love our part in doing what we can in sleuthing discussing in helping to get justice, it's just sometimes after a guy like Andre Neverson or Dan Hiers finally gets caught I'm more like "thank goodness *phew* that was exhausting worrying about them and I can breathe and relax now" rather than "YES YES YES YES!" (Actually I think my reaction to Dan Hiers was stunned silence lol- but after the initial shock it was like phew ) With that being said, I'm sure ironically my neighbors will call the police on me if Yaser Said is ever caught since I'll probably be shouting in celebration non-stop for the entire day and night lol.

Honestly having both André Neverson and Dan Hiers captured 2 weeks apart is similar to 2011 when Whitey Bulger and Bin Laden went down on the FBI Top 10 and like the FBI there weren’t any additions a year prior to their captures. When it’s a long time fugitive on either the USMS or FBI Most Wanted lists I find it a sigh of relief since their capture means the opening of a slot that has been occupied for several years, compared to FBI website or other Marshals fugitives, as it’s exciting and relieving to see them caught too, but on the MW Lists it’s the burden of a long time Fugitive getting caught that’s that’s relieving and opens up a spot. Also I’m posting this since today marks 2 years since Fidel Urbina was taken into custody and that was another epic capture we all celebrated then, but as was said, having multiple infamous names being caught in a short period of time is crazy. Let’s hope Capture-Fest continues and indeed Yaser Said or someone else on the FBI Top Ten gets caught to make it complete.

I forgot Osama Bin Laden and Whitey Bulger were captured (well one was captured and killed) within a month of each other so this is the second best month-ish time span in capture history lol.
But aside from that, it's not just Hiers and Neverson, but this entire month has seen great captures, Elton Jardines, Barrett Busschau, cold case unsolved cases, AMW forum fugitives, etc.... Bin Laden and Bulger were biggies, but this is overall imo the most robust month of significant captures in at least this forum's history, if not the century lol.

Expect tomorrow's fugitive case from me to be out of Los Angeles County this time! I just learned their Sheriff's Department does a Wanted Wednesday feature on their Facebook page so really good for us to be aware of. Recently we've been having issues getting confirmed cases out of Los Angeles County so every bit of publicity helps.

Mentioned this in the thread on Abby Williams and Libby German but I've been reading the book 'Mindhunter'. It's an autobiography from FBI criminal profiled John Douglas (the book was later made into a Netflix series, but I want to finish the book first). Basically it's about how instead of forensics or DNA, he helps solve cases, specifically serial killer cases, through a psychological analysis and profile. Douglas became a legend for his work on many infamous cases such as the Atlanta child murders, Green River Killer, etc... He seemed to nail who the killer exactly was (in terms of personality profession etc...) nearly if not all of the time. I am not blasphemous or delusional enough to think that me or any of us can solve cases the way Douglas did, who actually worked his butt off rather and had real-life experience rather than sitting in front of a computer. (Meant with love everyone ). However, there is strength in numbers so if anyone has any concepts when it comes to a psychological portrait in one of these cases, please do so as I feel brainstorming may be helpful. I feel this is unique as other sites that sleuth (which I do have respect for) don't seem to do this as often. In otherwords, everyone can comment and theorize as they feel fit, but psychological angles especially in unknown/unsolved cases are now very encouraged.

So what's everyone watching on tv lately? (Besides toptenhunter who I think said he doesn't watch tv anymore ) The last show I had watched was the first season of Killing Eve which was extremely well done. As far as mini-series go, we are going through "Maigret" which is a detective series set in 1950's France.

Something interesting I found from the Washington Post, a report on the murders of African-Americans more often going unsolved than the killing of Caucasians in the U.S.'s major cities. The Post also managed to get the names of all victims of homicides in the past decade where an arrest had not been made. www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2018/investigations/black-homicides-arrests/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.08bea301fc55I will probably go through a few of the more distinctive names soon, just because common first and last name combinations will be harder to look up, to see about any possible new threads to post on here.
