Watched an interesting documentary on Netflix the other day called "Cocaine Cowboys Reloaded" about the cocaine trade in Miami in the late 70's/80's and the violence and bloodshed associated with it. (Miami became the murder capital of America during the decade) Although they don't mention the three AMW captures, they do interview a defense attorney for the Miami River Cops. Was there a mention of Gustavo Falcon?

No. They interviewed two former fugitive traffickers named Jon Roberts and Mickey Munday, and a hit-man for a ruthless Queenpin named Griselda Blanco.

How's this for coincidence? I was researching AMW's old fugitive cases going way back in the archives and on July 25th, 2000 they aired the case of Joe Hansard, a wanted prison escapee. I'm assuming he was captured but correct me if I'm wrong. I thought the name sounded familiar though and I realized- the guy who played John Schlump in his infamous AMW re-enactment is also named Joe Hansard! Almost definitely a coincidence of course, but still AMW proves it's a small world once again. www.imdb.com/name/nm1581209/

Aside from fugitive cases, I'm also now keeping my eye out for new interesting cold case articles, in case I want to profile any of them on this forum. There's an article about the 2010 unsolved robbery turned murder of Paul Vasconcellos in Rochester, New York. One of the comments said "Too bad shows like America's Most Wanted were cancelled." So true. www.wcvb.com/news/four-years-later-vasconcellos-murder-remains-unsolved/29339914

I know this may come across as egotistical but that is why I consider our website the only "court of last resort" at the moment. We have decent numbers but I wish we had a few more visitors to help us close these cases.

So this is the in between season at work. I'm usually busy in the summer and holidays and can often work 7 days a week. These past two weeks I've worked a total of one day. (Everything balances out eventually). So because of this, I may start doing more than one case of the day. I understand a lot of posters are busy at the moment. HeadMarshal has school. Pakman sounds like he's covering a few interesting crime cases for his line of work. So there is no pressure to respond to them since it may be overwhelming to do more than one but I figure just to help my boredom and this site I would. It seems when I'm busiest is when everyone else has more time and vice versa unfortunately.

After three terms at college and not having much luck with getting decent marks, I'm dropping the regular programs soon. I eventually want to do distance education (online courses) as I know I'm intelligent, but learning and dealing with my continued anxiety issues is a serious challenge. I am currently job searching again and feel like I'm having some luck, but I'll have more time to do forum stuff, like eventually updating the 2014 MW Contenders Thread.

My next case to make a thread about will be quite exciting, because I know it was aired on AMW back in 1993 and didn't re-air it after the old amw site went up in November 1998. Hopefully I get this done tomorrow.

Going over a lot of AMW's unknown cases in the archive and A LOT were solved or had an arrest in the past year. It doesn't make sense to make a capture thread for each and I'd have to work off memory for some since I'm mainly trying to compile a database of cases still open but it's still nice to see closure in them. It seems unlike fugitive cases whenever an unknown case on AMW is solved, half the time it isn't known by whoever did the article for whatever reasons. For instance, Jose Gurley's killer wasn't revealed as an AMW case until the conviction.

Another fun-fact is that Tupac's aunt Assata Shakur who is technically known as Joanne Chesimard is still wanted by the FBI. And of course both Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G's murders were profiled on AMW as well.

Looking through articles for potential new exclusive fugitive cases once we start up again in December for the 2015 list and it's rather frustrating how so many articles don't say anything besides the crime. This guy is wanted for this.. call the police. Perhaps if people were actually told additional facts such as motives, etc. It's one thing if police decline to reveal too much on purpose, but I get a feeling half the time it's not because of that, but rather lazy reporting.
For example, I found a guy wanted for a triple homicide. The entire article is this "Police are looking for (suspect name) wanted for a triple homicide earlier in the year on (name of street in city). He is (stats) and here's a picture of his tattoos. Call police if you've seen him."
Usually a triple homicide suspect warrants attention but the problem is I don't think that's enough info to make a profile on him. They don't even say if it was a shooting, stabbing etc!
I remember reading up on Charles Mozdir's case, and learned he fled and threatened his victim's father, but that's all I had so I never added his case despite knowing about it before The Hunt did. I retrospect, I should have added his case anyway.
Maybe I'll add this guy anyway, but right now due to lack of info or even more than two paragraphs, I'm leaning against it unless a more detailed article comes out in the future.
He's just a microcosm. There's plenty more cases like this. You can't just tell people "this guy's bad, call the cops." You've got to give them a reason to WANT to, in my opinion.
I als found a few cases where motives weren't discussed, but I have enough details to make threads at least.

have fun and good luck to your son! Las Vegas has been listed as a possibility for Jason Derek Brown btw. So if you see a guy who looks like Sean Penn there, call the police.
