Alvaro Humberto Ochoa has been on the run from Arizona authorities for nearly 20 years. He was aired on AMW five times from 1994 to 1999.
On March 12, 1994, Alvaro Ochoa and three other inmates broke out of the Maricopa County Jail by smashing a cell window and using a rope to rappel 50 feet to a waiting van. The other three escapees were caught days later. Ochoa was originally arrested in 1993 and charged with possessing approximately 627 kilograms of cocaine which were located at his home. He had ties to the Cali Cartel in Colombia where he was born but according to the archived amw.com page, was last seen in Tijuana, Mexico. His defense team admitted that he likely fled back to Colombia and would probably never return to the United States.
Interestingly, I found an archived article from 1985 which mentioned that a 34-year old "Alvaro Humberto Ochoa" pled guilty to cocaine charges in Missouri in that year. The age matches his date of birth on the old website perfectly so that's most likely him.
Thoughts? After being arrested twice on drug charges, I imagine he's never traveled back to the United States. He most likely joined whatever criminal organization in Colombia members of the Cali Cartel flocked to when that organization was brought down.
UPDATE from site admin: I have found no new articles online since HeadMarshal's original posting in 2013. As far as I can tell, Ochoa is still at large as of this update (7/23/2018) since I haven't found anything online suggesting otherwise. However, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, please feel free to let us know.
