On May 23, 2004, Verna McDougal was in the parking lot of a business on the south-east corner of Broadway and Camino Seco when she was knocked to the ground during a purse snatching. The victim sustained injuries from the assault that resulted in her death on June 3, 2004. The suspect, who was described as a Caucasian male, ran into the neighborhood south of the shopping center.
