COLDWATER, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are seeking tips on the cold case murder of a 62-year-old man in Coldwater.
During a joint news conference on Monday, Michigan State Police and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department announced they are re-opening the unsolved murder of Duane Finney.
Finney was found shot to death in a car in a field north of the Skate Ranch on N. Angola Road in Coldwater on May 12, 2009.
Despite no new evidence, Michigan State Police Detective 1st Lt. Chuck Christensen said they’re confident they’re going to be able to solve his murder. It is the only unsolved homicide case in Branch County, according to the sheriff’s department.
Christensen said there is a person of interest in the case, but could not disclose additional details.
Two MSP detectives are joining Branch County detectives focused on the case. They will be working out of the MSP Coldwater post, according to authorities.
