It has been that long since the unsolved murder of Cindy Joy Elias of Virginia. The 19-year-old Elias was found murdered on the morning of March 24th in 1977 off of a logging road approximately eight miles north of Aurora. She was found under a pile of brush. Initial investigations revealed she died as a result of multi-traumatic injuries to the head. Elias was last seen in a local bar in Virginia at approximately 12:30 a.m. She was looking for a ride home and mentioned she was going to hitch hike. It is believed the person or persons responsible are local people who are familiar with the area where she was found. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s office is requesting anyone with information about this case to contact them at 218.749.7134 or 218.742.9825.
